Helping One Paw at a Time!

Pet care experience

I love taking pictures of your fur babies, so if you’re OK with it I’ll post stories of your little ones so it’s like you never left - or I can just send you photos directly. I've been a dog lover my whole life - I grew up with dogs of all sizes so I'm very used to having a dog. I would love to have my own dog, however with being back in school and working full time (from home during COVID), I felt that it was best not to making the commitment to having a dog so Rover is my best alternative! Clean housed to ensure no accidental digestion of foreign objects - we do not want any sick puppers! Some things to know about what you're dog will get staying at my place: - 3-5 walks per day - this can be modified depending on the needs of the dog. I live right on the greenbelt, so my backyard is a lovely trail! - The longest they would be alone would be 4-5 hours if I have evening plans. If this is not possible, please let me know in advance, so that I can try to accommodate my schedule or let you know so you can find the perfect sitter for your dog's needs. - Lots of love and attention and plenty of photoshoots! I usually one watch one dog at a time unless from the same family, so if your hoping for playdates through the stay - I may not be the best option.

Mathew was great. He was quick to respond to all of our messages and send pics and videos whenever we asked. Sue seemed to really enjoy her days with Matthew.

Mathew is a wonderful sitter. He took great care of my dog and home while I was away. He’s very communicative and keeps you updated with many photos and videos throughout the stay. This was my first time finding a sitter for my dog and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Emma was sad to see him go at the end of her stay!

Mathew was great with our puppy Maisey during her daycare stay. He was quick to respond to our messages, and Maisey seemed to really enjoy her stay. She was tired and smiley on the way home :)

Mathew was the first person outside family to look after our treasured pup and he was amazing. Mathew was calm in the face of our nervousness, responsive to all our questions, understanding of our requests, sent great updates, and our dog clearly took to him and felt safe and cared for. Thank you Mathew!

I do not have a fenced yard, so your dog will always be on leash (except for inside house). I have stairs, so if your dog is not used to this let me know (I've had to teach some condo dogs the love of stairs!). I do not have a crate, but have space for you to provide your own.

Information Mathew C. would like to know about your pet

No preference with regards to breed, I don't discriminate There are things I would like to know to offer the best care I can. Temperament ( Is your dog high energy? Do they like to be left alone?) Issues with dogs or people? Preferred times to eat/walk? Do's and Dont's for the Dog - if your dog is used to something at home, I'd like to keep it consistent for them. If you have a crate, please bring it to keep it consistent. Any behaviours or cues that your dog may use to communicate with you, that will be helpful for me. Does he scratch at the door because he misses his owner? Or is he indicating he needs a walk? Any details that you find would be useful to keeping his visit away from home as consistent as being at home, I'd love to know.

A typical day

I live on the belt line, so in the morning we'll start off with a 30 minute - 1hour walk on the trail (can vary depending on your dog, let me know!). During the weekday, I'm working so during my stretch breaks, we'll go for a quick walk or play around in the house. In the evenings, I may have class or just be hanging around the house so play time and walks are bound to happen! Photoshoots as we play with the dog will definitely be found on my instagram for you to enjoy (unless you prefer it not be posted in which case I can send directly through Rover!)

I work full-time from home and go to school in the evenings (online) - so dog sitting is really a passion for me since I love animals. I've been known to have a dog on my lap while in a zoom call. During the evenings we'll sit on the couch and watch TV or go out for a walk.
