Pet care experience
DC Dog Lover
Until 2024, I was dog-mom to a beautiful pittie named Stella. Stella had a neurological condition that impacted her mobility and over time she lost the ability to stand or walk unassisted. My partner and I cared for her right up until the end; everyone who knew her said she couldn't have had a more loving and supportive family. I was also raised in a household with one or more dogs since I was an infant, so to say I *LOVE* dogs would be an understatement. Everyone who entrusts me with their pup tells me they feel so reassured and comfortable leaving their baby with me because I'll dote on them night and day and give them the best care possible. I always welcome extra puppy cuddles in my life and I'll look after your baby as if they were my own. My husband, Jon, is my co-sitter, and he loves dogs just as much as I do. We only take in one dog at a time, so your baby will get 100% of our attention. <3

Ratings and reviews
Maryjo and Jon were great hosts, as usual! Super communicative, sent lots of photos, and clearly gave a lot of love to Raya, who came home happy and healthy.

Maryjo O. cancelled a booking 1 day before it was scheduled to begin.
Maryjo and Jon took great care of Luna. They were very responsive and sent lots of pictures, will definitely have Luna stay with them for another vacation soon!

Maryjo and Jon were excellent caretakers for Raya! They are clearly huge dog lovers and made Raya feel right at home. They sent consistent photo updates and were communicative throughout Raya’s stay, and they were flexible when we had to adjust drop off and pickup times. I would highly recommend them and would definitely book with them again!

Maryjo and John always take such good care of Junie. She was able to settle in and have a comfortable week hanging out with them.

Rigby had another lovely stay with Maryjo and Jon! I can tell he's very comfortable and happy with them and their frequent photo and video updates give me such peace of mind when I'm away from him. I'm sure he can't wait to see Maryjo again!

Schedule
I am one of the many recently laid off Washingtonians and am therefore home during the days. I occasionally leave to run errands or teach Zumba classes, but am not gone for more than a few hours at a time. My husband, Jon, works in hospitals, so he usually leaves very early in the morning, but is home by early afternoon. Between the two of us, your pet will rarely be alone.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I am happy to follow any and all rules you have with regard to your dog(s), whether that be no fraternization with other dogs, keeping them off furniture, making sure they're crated when alone, etc.
A typical day
We will go for walks through my neighborhood in Columbia Heights and possibly longer hikes (if weather complies and your dog is capable) in Rock Creek Park or even farther away if you don't mind us bringing your dog in the car. If your dog gets along with other dogs, we can bring him/her along on excursions to friends' homes or wineries/breweries. Your dog will also be our couch buddy as we binge watch the show of the moment; Jon also loves having a canine companion while playing video games.

- I'd like to know that the dog is housebroken, whether he/she will be arriving with a crate, whether he/she has issues with chewing furniture, etc., and how he/she does when left alone. I also will ask for a Meet & Greet in advance so I can get to know you and your pet.
