Friendly & Active Dog/Cat Sitter!

Pet care experience

ABOUT ME: Animals have always been a part of my family—cats, dogs, fish, hamsters, rats, bunnies—and you bet they get all of the love and attention they deserve! Our Irish Wolfhound, Tara, was with us for about 6 years, and our many cats (Merlin, Arthur, Whiskey, Spookie, Chipsy, & Snowy) have filled our home for over 25 years. Snowy, our reigning cat now, just turned 18 years old! As a nature-lover and an advocate for getting outside (a true Coloradan), I'm always trying to stay active, whether that means practicing yoga, running, hiking, swimming, or a taking a leisurely walk around the block. My summer schedule is much more flexible than most, which allows me more time for dog- and house-sitting. I would love to have your dog join me on some outdoor adventures! I'm a writer, teacher, and graduate student in western Massachusetts, so I spend long periods of time living in both CO and MA. I update my calendar regularly for details about my availability and services, however, this is what my general schedule of location looks like throughout the year so that you can plan accordingly when looking for a sitter: September – November = in MA December – January = in CO January – April = in MA May – August = in CO EXPERIENCE: For the last few years I've been lucky enough to house-sit for friends and family members to take care of their furry family. (Primarily cats and dogs, however, I'm happy to give your plants and fish some love too!) I've encountered dogs with all types of personalities—lazy, mellow, excited, hyper, sassy, rude, disobedient, etc.—and in my experience, having patience with your pets and a respect for their individual personalities is crucial for good pet-care. And of course, above all, lots of love! ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: *I often receive several requests at a time to house-sit for the same dates; please keep in mind that I will always accept the request from whoever commits to book first. Therefore, please be ready to schedule a meet & greet ASAP. If I get another request for the same dates from someone who is ready to book right away and you have not already scheduled a meet & greet and/or confirmed the booking, I will accept the request from the person who is ready to book right away. If this happens, I will let you know right away. *If you don't require me to stay in your home overnight while house-sitting, please communicate this with me and provide details of the pet-care required (how many house-visits your pet needs, how much time you'd like me to spend with your pet per day, etc.). *My home is located only a few blocks away from our trusted animal hospital (driving time = 5 minutes or less) in case of emergency.

Mary was amazing! My dog is super shy and takes a while to warm up to new people. She was very gentle with my dog and her special needs, and needless to say they got a long swimmingly.

Mary has been fond of (and loved by!) animals her whole life. We grew up as kids with an Irish Wolfhound and have had several family kitties over the years, one of which (Snowy) is feeling great at 18+ years old! Mary is caring and responsible, and has always been our #1 dog sitter when my boyfriend and I go out of town. I trust her fully and would recommend her to anyone looking for a loving, attentive animal-sitter.

OH MY GOODNESS! Mary is absolutely amazing. She has become a wonderful "auntie" to my two cats, Moe and Harlaut. They love all the love and attention they receive when Mary watches them. She really goes above and beyond when she is taking care of my babies. Thanks, Mary!

Mary is one of the biggest animal lovers I know. She is always kind, gentle, and sensitive to an animal's needs. Apart from her love for animals, she is an extremely responsible, intelligent, and caring individual. Mary is always the first person I ask to watch my animals while I'm out of town. She has always gone above and beyond with her attention to detail and care she provides for my animals. Mary would be an excellent addition to Rover, and I know she will bring joy to every dog and owner she meets.

Information Mary S. would like to know about your pet

Please inform me of any initial concerns you have about your pet's needs prior to sitting/meet and greet. I'd like to be made aware of any behavioral issues, quirks, habits, dietary restrictions, etc. so that I can fully prepare for our first visit and provide your pet with the absolute best care. If your dog has any severe behavioral issues (such as an aggression toward other dogs and/or cats), it is likely that I will not accept them for doggy day care in my home, as Snowy (our cat) scares easily and cannot handle living in extreme stress. However, I'd be more than happy to discuss any of my other services with you to see if we would be a good fit.

A typical day

We will enjoy long walks around the pond, playtime in the back yard, and lots of snuggles!
