Every dog wants to live on a ranch!
Pet care experience
I only schedule one client at a time in order to provide the care your dog(s) deserve. I train my horses and dogs (and friend’s dogs) using positive reinforcement method. We call our 108 acre ranch home. We have 2 well socialized dogs - an 11 pound yorkie that is a pet therapist at Cottage Hospital (with my son) and a German Shepherd. I have been informally doggy sitting friend’s pets when they go on vacation so their pets can have a vacation too! We have a indoor night time area (in living room) and a secure daytime outdoor area. We also have a solid fenced horse arena that is great for ball play. The beach is also nearby. If there are training issues that need polishing (sit, stay, heal, come, stop, speak, down, shake, on your mat) we can work on those for a nominal extra charge. Former Humane Society Volunteer and Westside German Shepherd Rescuerer.
Reviews
This is our second time working with Mary and we will always try to rebook her when we come to the area. The drive is a little out of the way but for us this is never a concern. She takes great care of our two dogs, making sure our young gun gets plenty of play time and being very attentive to medicine and special care for our old one. We get great updates and are always sure our dogs are happy. She is simply the best.
Our dogs had a fabulous time with Mary while we were away for a long weekend! It was great to know they were in good hands, Mary caught some wonderful pictures of our senior dogs frolicking on the beach, and while they were excited to see us as usual, I’m not sure they wanted to come home.
Our two dogs had an absolutely wonderful time at Mary’s little slice of paradise. She was very communicative, checking in on their needs and making sure she was prepared. She also sent several wonderful pictures of our dogs enjoying their stay so we didn’t stress about them and could enjoy our vacation. She also has two special, sweet dogs who were very gracious hosts - our dog Henry was in love with her Rio. I have had negative experiences with rovers and Mary has restored my faith. Also, she donates the rover fees to a German Shepard rescue - even better!! I can’t recommend her enough.
Mary has a deep love of dogs and understanding of their behavior that is just unmatched! It can be hard to find a person who has earned the level of trust to watch over one’s precious pets, but Mary went above and beyond to make sure our questions were answered and our dogs had a great, safe stay! She was thoughtful about the details to help our dogs adjust and made sure to keep up the training of our younger girl (and even taught our older girl a few new tricks) - we will ALWAYS book with Mary when we’re in the area from now on!

While our ranch is 108 acres there are a a series of fences that keep your pet safe. The backyard fence is 7’ which accommodates all but the most athletic escape artist. Most dogs can be unsupervised in this area. The next circle is a 5’ no-climb fence with solid gates. This allows the pups plenty of room to roam. Supervision is provided at all times when dogs are in this area.

Information Mary R. would like to know about your pet
I like to know your dogs level of training, common vocabulary you use, as well as any behavioral (eg separation anxiety) and health issues to ensure we are a good match.
A typical day
We like to go for walks around the ranch, play in the (no-climb) fenced arena and walk on the beach. Dogs will good recall can enjoy plenty of off leash time!

Wrapping up a 35 year professional career and I am working sporadically in my home office. This gives me plenty of free time to toss a ball, run on the beach, and end the day with a cuddle on the couch and a good movie.
