Ever since 2013, I have been taking care of our family Shih Tzu named Ginger. She was not the easiest to take care of due to her past owner abusing her and damaging her trust in people. As of now I am sad to say that she is growing old and has cataracts, but we are like two peas in a pod; we both have mutual trust in each other. However now, she lets me bathe her, pet her, and pick her up! We also have a family cat named Newton that we have had since 2017. He isn't the most sociable of cats and he tears up furniture, but if you show him love, he might show it back. Last but definitely not least, I adopted a Calico kitten back in October of 2021, and she is nothing less than an angel. She absolutely loves people (to the point where she can never be alone). Since I have roommates that are allergic to cats, I started bathing her at a young age to keep the shedding at a minimum. She also listens to me when I tell her to come or to stop clawing at furniture! I also sometimes watch my grandfather's cat or feed my neighbors outside cats. As for the summer, I am about to start a part-time job at TJ Maxx and I am taking summer courses at GSU. As of right now, none of those have started so I have a free schedule :) Although I will be moving in early August a couple of minutes from here. When Fall 2022 classes start, then I will have classes on top of Tj Maxx. In my family, we let the pets free feed. However, for Callaway (my calico kitten), I make sure to have a set breakfast with 1/4 wet food and some dry food mixed together, and then I just refill her bowl with dry food near the end of the day. I took Ginger, the family dog, on walks or just let her roam outside in our enclosed backyard until she let us know she wanted to come back in. Newton and Callaway are both inside cats, but I sometimes bring Callway on walks in her backpack carrier or I sit on the porch with her while she has a harness on.
