Pet care experience
I have taken care of my own family pets, usually a loyal pack of three my whole life and have had the opportunity to care for friends' pets as well and I love any chance I can get to spend some time doting on a furry friend. My parents visit Virginia often, always loaded up with our pack of three in the back, and we center most of our plans around Eliza, Lina, and Robert, though I'm constantly missing having a dog around when they're gone. I have experience bathing and providing oral medication. Our dogs will always be considered members of our family and they rule our lives! During quarantine back in Texas I found an abandoned kitten on our property and raised her before finding her a home. Through that experience I fell in love with cats too, though we never had cats growing up due to my parents' allergies. My roommate and I currently dote on our neighborhood kitty who has made her way into our apartment, and hearts, on multiple occasions.

Mary Katherine is a responsible and trustworthy petsitter. Reliability is extremely important in a petsitter, and I know I can count on her to be on time to walk my two dogs. She clearly loves animals, and my dogs are always excited to see her. She sends great pictures during her visits, and I highly recommend Mary Katherine!
MaryKatherine has grown up with dogs and knows cats well too. She’s responsible, knowledgeable and caring with animals - very alert when walking them to watch for potential hazards and anticipate what could happen (dogs exploding at a sudden squirrel ambush for example; avoiding loose dogs). She’s conscientious about dogs’ conditions (walking in hot weather for instance) and very mindful about locking doors and securing properties. Trustworthy. Strong. And absolute animal lover .
Mary Katherine has watched my dog, Snickers, for years now! Can’t recommend her enough. I work as a traveling nurse so she’s like family to Snickers! She takes him on walks when I have long shifts in town or is great with overnight stays when I travel. She is always on time and I’ve recommended her to all of my friends.

I live in a two bedroom apartment in the charming quiet neighborhood of North Downtown a few blocks from The Mall and since I'm on the 1st floor and I have a balcony porch which means long walks and roams through the neighborhood and an easy path to McIntire Park. I have one female roommate who also loves animals and we are both open to letting any furry friends roam around, (we often let in our neighbor's cat when she comes knocking), so it's important your pet feels comfortable with two new people if she is around during a stay, or walk, though I will be the responsible caretaker.

I’d like to know your dog’s typical behavior and what medications, or ailments I need to be aware of. How are they with strangers, or strangers’ dogs on walks for example? Are they house trained? Do they warm up to people easily? I'm curious as well what treats I can give them throughout the day.
A typical day
I am an active person and love any chance to get outside and I often go on hikes, or walking paths around my neighborhood. I am a big fan of McIntire and Riverview Park and I am close to both. I also frequent Shenandoah and have access to my parent's farm in Middlebrook, outside of Staunton, for additional running when needed. Our English Setter Liza is a big fan of meadow runs, but I would keep your pooch on a leash to be safe. I can also be a homebody depending on the mood of your pooch and have plenty of space for toy throwing and couch lounging.

Availability
I am a full time teacher so I'm unavailable from 7:45-3:30 pm. During the week I am available after 4 pm Monday-Thursday and 9am-10:30 pm Friday through Sunday unless boarding or house-sitting.
