Must love dogs

Pet care experience

In my family, we have had a dog almost my entire life; so now that I am away from home in Texas, I need more dogs in my life! I am familiar with many breeds, sizes, and all ages of dogs. Currently my parents have 3 dogs in their house, including one rescue and adopted semi-retired hunting dog. I am accustomed to working and providing care for highly trained dogs, such as hunters; so that if you, as a dog parent, want to maintain consistent training and management styles, I can do that. In fact, I aspire to train my own service dog one day. I love "dogs with jobs!" In addition, I have experience administering oral meds and eye drops, and general care for senior dogs. While living in Northern Virginia/DC, I took a very active role in walking, house-sitting, and home-stays for my sister's golden retriever/german shepherd mix named Crosby, who was adopted from a rescue agency. Crosby was my jogging and hiking partner. We often explored national parks, ran the Mount Vernon trail, played at dog parks, and dined at dog-friendly restaurants. Therefore, if you want your dog to jog or have an active day in the park playing fetch, I am more than happy to do that! Not only am I an active person who loves to explore, I equally love to be a couch potato, and if your dog needs just that, then I am more than happy to snuggle up with him/her :) I will do what brings your dog joy and comfort. As a doctorate student in clinical psychology, I am a very caring and empathetic person; and I believe this shows in my interactions while taking care of dogs. To quote a favorite rescue agency from Florida, "stay close to people (and dogs) that feel like sunlight." Now, while living in Indy, I am a proud dog aunt for a pup my brother-in-law rescued in Texas and I fostered and transported here to Indy for my Aunt and Uncle to adopt. His name is Moose, an American Staffordshire Terrior/Lab/Boxer mix, who I have helped train and take care since he was 8 weeks old. As such, I am very familiar with positive-reinforcement and structured training with a high emphasis in physical and mental stimulation. I love my Moose man so much!

Mary Clare was great! She's very friendly and responsive, right from the beginning. She made herself available for a meet and greet before the sit dates and took good notes. She was super flexible when my departure time changed and she sent regular updates and photos during the sit. I felt like my dogs were in good hands and was able to enjoy my weekend away. I would definitely use Mary Clare again!

Mary Clare will make an amazing caregiver for your dog. She has been an animal lover ever since I have known her which has been about 20 years. Anytime a dog walks by she has to stop and show them some love. I have never seen a dog dislike Mary Clare, which reveals her warm character (dogs are excellent at reading people). Mary Clare is responsible, respectful, trustworthy and will treat anyone's dog like her own. Mary Clare can be fully trusted to take care of anyone's dog and I would have no hesitation leaving my pets with her. You will be lucky have her at Rover and I highly recommend her as a loving dog caregiver.

Mary Clare is the ideal dog sitter! Having grown up with dogs all her life, she is very experienced with their needs - feedings, play time and exercise, social exposure, etc... Many times she has taken care of my pup, Crosby. Whether its just a quick walk because I am working late or staying the weekend so I don't have to board Crosby, she is down to help. Because of her caring nature and love for dogs, Crosby adores Mary Clare and is always excited to spend time with her. As a dog lover myself, I highly recommend Mary Clare as your dog sitter.

Information Mary Clare B. would like to know about your pet

I have no breed limitations, as I believe that there are absolutely no "aggressive breeds." I love all the unique quirks and characteristics that each individual dog presents. I would love to have a meet and greet with you and your dog to demonstrate that the dog can feel absolutely comfortable with me. Additional information such as allergies, behavioral cues and styles (e.g. is your dog hesitant around other dogs or other breeds?), dog preferences of food/snacks and petting, and training and commands used.

A typical day

I believe physical and mental stimulation are crucial for a happy pup! I will always cater to what the dog is comfortable with, prefers, and enjoys. I am a very active and outdoorsy person, so they sky is the limit.
