Must love dogs!

Pet care experience

I've been around dogs my whole life, both purebreds and mixed breeds, and I love(d) them all! I've always been a responsible pet parent and understand that you need to have play time, walk time, and hanging out time to create an unbreakable bond. I believe that pets are part of the family, not something that you own. In the fall of 2015, I started as a professional sitter with Rover, but have decades of experience caring for dogs and cats for friends, neighbors, and family members. I am certified in Emergency Pet Care and CPR from the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals. I am also insured under Pet Sitters Associates, along with the insurance that Rover offers. In December, 2017, I became a member of NAPPS (National Association of Professional Pet Sitters) and have vowed to maintain honest and trustworthy pet care that is upheld via the membership. I have also successfully completed courses to expand my knowledge of pet care to go along with my life long experience caring for pets. My dog, Jeager, is a high-energy hunting dog, so I'm used to taking him on trails for runs (instead of walks). I like to hit the trails of the Cedar Lakes Conservancy areas - one which is adjacent to my neighborhood. If you want trail walk/runs, I can pick up your dog and take him or her on the trails that I'm used to, or head over to Pike Lake State Park. I'm also fine with walking your dog in your neighborhood or your favorite spot. Older dogs usually go at a slower pace, and I'm fine with that too! The dog I had as a child suffered from epilepsy, so I am sensitive to the needs of dogs with health conditions. I have experience giving a variety of oral medications and injected medication (insulin) . I also have experience with dogs that have mobility issues. I make home-made dog treats from healthy ingredients and would love to share them with your dogs!

We don’t know what we would do without Mary! She’s so great with our dogs and I know they’re always getting the best care.

Mary was great! First time taking care our crew and they all loved her. Construction going on in the yard was a challenge but she kept everyone calm. Would definitely have her come again!

Information Mary C. would like to know about your pet

What is the dog's overall health? Does the dog need any medication? Is there a health condition such as epilepsy? (so I can avoid loud sounds/areas). Is there a history of fears/reactions to thunderstorms or other loud sounds, or to other animals? How active is the dog normally? Is the dog quiet or loud? Is the dog well trained - will he/she respond to my command to sit, etc? Do you want me to reinforce any training that you started? What is your dog's favorite toy or game? Is the dog kennel/crate trained?

A typical day

THE HAPPINESS, HEALTH, AND THE SAFETY OF YOUR PET IS THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF MY VISITS! WALKS: [Currently Suspended] Ask me about my Walk EZ Leash if your dog likes to PULL. I can walk in your neighborhood, or take your dog on the wooded trails at Pike Lake State Park, I also have a 30 foot lead so your dog can feel free to run and explore while on the trails! There are also the Cedar Lakes Conservancy trails, one which is adjacent to my neighborhood, that has a pond that my dog loves to swim in - when I allow him (bath needed afterward). DROP IN VISITS: [Currently Suspended] First and foremost is the potty break! Then some serious play time - If outdoors, I have a variety of dog toys to play with, including: A variety of dog Frisbees, a Chuck-it for launching Chuck-it balls, a Kong Wubba and an amphibious bumper fetch toy; and also tennis balls. I love to play tug-o-war for indoor times and will also play fetch if room allows. If a meal/feeding is needed, I can follow whatever instructions you give for your dog's diet. I can also administer medications as well. If your dog requires an injected medication, please demonstrate the routine you follow, so I may safely administer the injection in the accustomed manner. HOUSE SITTING/OVERNIGHT STAYS (Repeat Clients Only - Not accepting new house sitting clients at this time): To be discussed at the time of booking.
