Happy Dogs, Happy life!

Pet care experience

My background is in both animal care and animal training. I have been a horse trainer, dog trainer (Positive reinforcement), zookeeper, and vet tech (companion and exotic animal medicine). Understanding animal behavior is my passion. I am currently a member of IAABC (International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants) I am also working on my FearFree certificate. I have worked with all types of animals from horses, zebras, wildebeest, Rhinocerous, cats, dogs, and everything in between. I have cared for senior dogs, puppies, special needs dogs, and basically all types of dogs. Your pet will be treated like family and enjoy playing in the fenced backyard or hanging out in the many many dog beds in my home. We also have mini-training sessions just for fun. I am available most nights and weekends and your pet will enjoy their time in my pet-friendly, pet-safe environment. I am available nights and weekends and my weekdays are flexible to accommodate all pet needs. I make sure all pets are safe and comfortable in my home. I am available to pick up pets and drop them off to minimize the stress on the owner and their pet. When you board your pet with me your pet will be treated like family. I am a big proponent of the Fearfree movement and I work hard to provide a peaceful, but fun environment for the dogs. I am also trained in positive reinforcement and behavioral management. I also understand canine body language and I use that to help me help your pet have a more comfortable time while you are away.

I recently moved to Austin and started looking for a dog sitter for an upcoming trip. After meeting several people I felt very comfortable leaving my pup with Mary. She sent daily photos and I could tell my pup was having a lot of fun. I will not hesitate to contact Mary for future dog sitting needs.

I was so nervous to leave my baby girl, but quickly felt at ease after a day. Mary is the type of human being that is meant to be with animals. She thinks of their needs first. Very intuitive and a very talented animal mom lady. ❤️

A typical day

I work hard to add enrichment in many ways to each pet's day, some pets like walks, others like attention, and some like puzzles. I just try to find the activity that best suits each dog. I also think it is important that dogs get to sniff, so I try to create activities that encourage sniffing. There is also the availability of sniffing walks as well as exercise walks. I also think positive reinforcement training is an important way of creating a great connection with any animal.
