Calling Upper East Side Dogs!

Pet care experience

Welcome to my Rover.com page! *** Hi friends, I currently have limited availability, meaning I’m only available for walks or drop-in visits mostly on weekends, or occasionally on weekday evenings. I look forward to expanding my availability in the near future. *** Feel free to inquire ( especially if you’re a previous client), because I try to have flexibility to accommodate your requests when I’m able. I’ll update this page if my availability changes! I sure do miss all my dog pals, and I look forward to seeing you when I can. Thank you to all of my clients, and welcome to those who are looking for a sitter or walker. Always make sure you’re comfortable with the sitter or walker you select. I cannot overemphasize the importance of having a committed and dedicated walker who is paying attention to your dog and to everything that is going on in the environment. Whichever walker are you select, whether it’s me or someone else, please help set things up for success by telling the walker of any issues or concerns, information about allergies or illnesses, or things that frighten your pup (eg, skateboards, fireworks!). Please make sure that your dog has a securely fitting harness and a secure lead. If your dog is a recent rescue and skittish or nervous, please discuss this with your dogwalker so that all precautions can be taken! Safety first! One important note: I would NEVER tether your dogs outside of a building or store! That could never happen on my watch. Your pup deserves personalized care among familiar surroundings and the special attention of an attentive guardian while you're away. I make it a priority to try to understand your dog's unique needs, and I'll ask you questions in advance. Whether your dog prefers to stay in and snuggle, take a jaunt around the block, or have a long walk, I'll make sure to get the information from you first and get a reading from your dog when we meet. Your instructions on food, toys, medicines, or behavioral concerns will help us to have good visits, with your dog feeling reassured from being cared for at home while receiving the best care that I can provide. On walks, I work hard to ensure your dog and I have calm energy and a good walking dynamic, so that we'll both enjoy a terrific walk. I'm a responsible and attentive guardian for your dog, who'll have my undivided attention.I very much enjoy the company of dogs--so much that I started giving "day camp" outings to my friend's dog, a medium-size breed who likes and needs to be around people and get a lot of exercise. From there, leads came my way because of my affection for, and rapport with, so many wonderful dogs. My services include dog care in your home or mine.I'm an attentive guardian who wants to give your dog a good experience, even when you must be away from home. I will follow your instructions for your dog's unique needs. Oh, and did I mention that I make wonderful peanut butter dog biscuits (vegan?)Meet my pets1 laid-back kittyAbout my yardI do not have any yard space but live within blocks of several city parks. My experience administering medicationI will be happy to discuss medicating your dog. This would be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Mary Alice immediately bonded with my kitten and sent lots of photos so that I knew he was being well cared for while I was away!

Mary did a wonderful job watching our pup, Harper, while we were away for a few days. Upon meeting her, we knew she'd be a great match because she asked all the right questions and spent some time getting to know Harper. She understood our pup's needs, was timely and responsible. It's quite challenging to entrust our furbaby to another, but Mary's responsiveness and experience allowed us take comfort in knowing our dog was well provided for. We would highly recommend booking her for your pup's needs. Thank you, Mary!

Your companion animal is my number one priority, and I put their safety and comfort first. There will be no “pack walking“ or tethering, ever. Leashes and harnesses must be properly fitted, and we will meet in advance to discuss your animal’s temperament, quirks, triggers, treats, etc.

Information Mary Alice C. would like to know about your pet

I offer dog parents assurance of a good, safe, and fun stay while you're away. Your precious pooch will enjoy one-on-one care! No double-booking (well, except under rare circumstances and with prior client approvals. An example would be a case of dogs who get along together and have stayed together previously). Your pup will get my personal and undivided attention during the stay. The best dogsitting or dogwalking experience is an alchemy that combines my genuine interest in taking care of your dog (or cat) with your insights and instructions for keeping your companion animal safe and well. Toward that end, I want to know everything about your animal: size, breed, and general health; temperament and personality; spay/neuter status; how your dog gets along with other dogs, or with cats; walk and play habits; feeding routines; allergies; and other issues that may affect the care plan (ie, separation anxiety issues, skittishness; aggression triggers, medication). With all of this information in hand, we have a much better chance for a successful stay or visit. Because I have a small apartment, I prefer small- to medium-size dogs. I live near many parks and can offer nice long walks. Unless I have an extended stay with a dog, and have learned about his or her temperament, I typically avoid dog runs and instead choose a nice walk--the best way to get to know each other. I find that the more walks we take, the calmer and more happy the dog becomes.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks Central Park is a #1 destination for dogs who are up for a long romp! Also nearby and available for leashed walks are smaller parks including Schurz Park, Ruppert Park, and a closed-off street between Second and Third avenues. And, some dogs respond happily and well to a nice, controlled jaunt around the streets and avenues of the beautiful and dog-loving Upper East Side. Your dog's sleeping arrangement My quilt-covered couch is a comfy dog bed, and my cool hard-wood floors are nice, too. I sometimes can have a medium-size dog bed available. Time I'll spend with your dog Your dog is my #1 concern and will have my attention throughout the day & night.
