Experienced Animal Caretaker
Pet care experience
I have volunteered at animal shelters from a young age, which led me to working at several different vet offices, and dog care facilities. In all of these environments, I have gained valuable experience working one on one with dogs of all stages of life, breeds, and temperaments. These experiences have given me the traits of confidence, patience, and resolution, all of which help me provide the best care for all dogs.
Reviews
My 2 labs absolutely adore Marlie! My yellow lab Delilah loves her so much, she cannot stay off of her. Marlie always leaves my house covered in her white hair. She gives them pets every time they come to her, and always asks to throw the ball for them.

Skills
Safety, trust & environment
While on walks, it is important for the dogs to feel secure, and for myself to feel confident that nothing will malfunction with the leash or collar you provide. Having worked at various pet care environments, I have become very supportive of using two leads and two leashes for one dog. I will provide an extra leash that is routinely washed and cared for, in addition to an extra leash. I will also keep the leashes connected to a belt on me by use of a carabiner, should they ever slip out of my hand. My motto is to take a proactive approach, so while the extra safety measures have yet to be necessary, I feel it is important to be over prepared, especially when taking care of our favorite furry friends. In addition, I keep a first aide kit on me at all times, along with the numbers for poison control, and the nearest emergency vet.

Information Marlie S. would like to know about your pet
Something I need to know about a dog before taking them into my care is their behavior and temperament at home when it comes to other people (strangers, children) or other animals. This way, I can be sure to avoid certain environments and situations that may lead to experiences with strangers or strange animals.
A typical day
In the morning, I like to start off with a less intense warm up of fetch, and or a nice brisk walk around the neighborhood. I find that letting the dogs warm up allows for a more effective, energy intense playtime later on. Afterwards, I give the dogs more fresh water, and once they are relaxed again give them their morning breakfast. During the early afternoons, I like to go on a longer walk at local forrest reserves (weather permitting). Depending on the energy level of the dog (or dogs), I'll either jog with them, or allow them to explore. Late afternoons, when the sun is at its brightest and the day is it's hottest, everyone comes inside for a two hour rest, and it is also the time I get their lunch. In the evenings I will try to get as much leftover energy out of the dogs as I can- either by going on walks, playing fetch, playing games that exercise their intelligence, or by simply running around the yard with them. This way, they go home feeling worn and ready for a relaxing night at home. If the dogs stay with me, we will spend a little extra time outside, then come in for the evening to relax, eat dinner, and head to bed.
