Professional trainer and walker!

Pet care experience

Hi, my name is Marlene but please call me Ming and thank you so much for taking the time to check out my profile. Many of my friend would call me an avid dog lover and I whole-hardheartedly agree! I started volunteering with shelters at a young age, I knew then I wanted to be around dogs for the rest of my life and now I am on my way to become a certified dog behaviorist. Fah Fah my westie was my first dog that was actually mine. She is a rescue dog and unfortunately due to her bad breeding became terribly ill. She has extreme chicken/ grain/flea allergies that will cause a rash all over her body so I am very careful with cross contamination and cleanliness if your dog has allergies. When my westie was about 5 she was diagnosed with addison's disease after almost slipping away twice. Thanks to the time spent with her in and out of vets offices I've been taught many things, like how to recognize an emergency or how to give certain injections. If you have a special needs dog I know how scary it can be to leave them, but know that if you do they will be in the hands of someone that will treat them like their own. Lux my husky and Roo my Labradoodle are both very active dogs. They love to run at the beach, climb the hills and play fetch. One normal walk for them is usually between 4-6 miles. They would love for your dog to join our pack and run with them in the sand dunes. I have 5 years of professional experience with dogs. I am a dog walker and have worked at two separate kennels, one of which I managed.Through my experiences in kennels I've learned how to work with various types of dogs such as timid, dog-reactive, and human-reactive dogs. I am skilled in reading dog behavior, body language, and I am first aid/CPR certified through PetTech so you always know your pet will be in safe hands. I am also experienced with basic training so dogs that stay with me won't forget everything you taught them while they're on vacation. My house is geared toward our pets comfort. I have multiple large high-quality beds placed in the dogs favorite areas. I have a couch, blankets and a large comfy armchair that the dog are allowed on especially when its snuggle time. If you however do not want your dog to learn to be on the couch or bed I will gladly snuggle with them on one our comfy dog beds. Dogs are taken out to potty usually between 3-4 hours, my westie needs to go a lot so if your dog needs more potty breaks I would be happy to do it. I have a small yard that is fenced in so they can romp around as they please. It's great for older dogs who can't keep up with with active hikes or just like to sunbathe! Why your dogs should stay with me: -5 years professional experience -Pet Aid/CPR certified through PetTech - 1-2 daily 4-6 mile hikes at Fort Funston -experienced with administering various types of medication ie. pills, ear meds, eye meds, Subcutaneous injections, nasal sprays etc -person always home -experienced with many different breeds and behaviors -experienced at training dogs on proper recall and basic commands -Walks at the Fort Funston include fetch, playing and socializing with a group of dogs -Dogs that stay with me for one week or more will get a free bath, nail trim, and ear cleaning Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog lover for as long as I can remember. In fact my first memory was of my grandparents and I picking out our first family dog when I was 2. When I was old enough I started volunteering at the shelter. I loved learning about the different types of dogs and how to train them. When I was able to start working I started a job at a small local pet store. I then became a dog walker and got a managing position at Citipets the Playground. After that I became a senior camp counselor at Pet camp. I also volunteer in my spare time for Niko rescue and help them drive dogs from shelters to fosters. With the experience gained from these places I learned to work with many types of dogs especially those that were timid or reactive to either dogs or people. Working personally with dogs and their humans has taught me so much. I've seen the best and worst in people. I've met dogs that I will never forget and have touched me in ways that I now dedicate my life to dogs. I'm currently working towards my animal behavioral certification and I hope to one day own a few acres of land to turn it into a rescue facility for dogs that just need some love before adoption. About my yard Fenced in with plenty of smells to explore! My experience administering medication Yes. I do my westie's percorten injection monthly and administer prednisone orally once a day. I am also comfortable giving subcutaneous injection if needed. I have done them on my own animals and as a camp counselor at Pet Camp.

Ming was a fantastic sitter for our GSD, Tesla. We don't take the task of finding people to watch her lightly and Ming seems very experienced, which put us at ease from the first time meeting her. She sent pictures of Tesla playing and on hikes with the other dogs in her group everyday and was very responsive to text. Tesla had a great time with her and I'd definitely recommend her services for those looking for someone that goes the extra mile to make sure your dog is happy while you're away.

Edgar loved staying with Ming! She wore him out and he was passed out for two days when we got home. He's depressed to come back home where it's boring. She is extremely responsible and sent me plenty of pictures and videos! She knows how to take care of a dog well. I recommend her!

Mowgli loved staying with Ming! She is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating; and Mowgli came back exhausted. I would definitely book her again.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks Fort Funston, Bernal Height, and McLaren park are my usual trails I like to go. I have 3 years of dog walking experience so if your dog is ok off leash I am comfortable doing so. If not they can romp on leash or at an enclosed dog park. I love playing ball or taking them swimming at the beach. My dogs love to play so your pup always has someone to wrestle or play tag with. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Where he or she wants! We have multiple dog beds of different sizes and styles. We have two couches with comfy throws and blankets to snuggle up on. If your pup wants they can sleep on the bed with us, we love to snuggle! Time I'll spend with your dog Almost every hour of their entire stay!
