Marlee's Regent Square Pet Care
Pet care experience
If you're looking for a homier alternative to boarding your dog, cat, or exotic pet, you've come to the right place! I only accept one guest at a time so you know your pet is my only focus. Growing up with a veterinarian for a mother and anywhere from 5 to 10 dogs at a time, I have always been an animal lover. In addition to caring for family dogs, cats, rabbits, and hamsters growing up, I have worked as a veterinary assistant, a pet store animal care specialist, and as a doggy daycare employee. I can administer medication and care for injuries, and with a mother as a veterinarian, I have constant access to medical advice in the event of an emergency-- or even a casual question. I live in a two story house with both hardwood and carpeted floors, and I have a small fenced in backyard. Although my yard is fenced, I do not consider it dog proof (I know how sneaky they can be), and will not allow dogs off their leash outside until I am well acquainted with their personality. I live in a calm residential area that is extremely dog friendly and will be glad to go on regular walks around the neighborhood with your pup. For more energetic pups, Frick Park and its many trails are just a few blocks away. I do have small pets of my own (cats and rodents), so I am unable to care for dogs who are not cat safe. On the upside, I am glad to host non-canine friends in addition to any dogs. I am an expert with cats, dogs, fish, and rodents. I have experience caring for reptiles, rabbits, chinchillas, amphibians, and birds. While I am happy to host multiple dogs or pets from the same family at one time, I otherwise only accept one dog at a time to ensure I can devote my time and energy to making each pup as comfortable as possible. I am the only resident of the house, so I will be the only person responsible for watching your pet, and I encourage you to send your pup along with his favorite toys and bed so he feels right at home. When I am not at home (when teaching or in class), your dog will stay in my furnished spare bedroom with carpeted floors, a twin bed to lounge on, and a window for watching the birds that visit my feeders. Luckily, as a graduate student, I have a flexible schedule and spend the majority of my time at home, so your pup is more likely to be lounging on the couch with me. Dogs (or other pets) are welcome for day visits and overnight stays, and I am happy to provide dog walking/home visits, though I cannot stay over night. I miss having dogs in the house, and I hope you'll allow me to host yours soon!
Reviews
Marlee was great with Thor, our young lab mix who can be a handful and is still being trained. Marlee is very experienced with dogs which is why we chose her; she was able to handle Thor's eager pulling on walks. Thor seemed to love being with Marlee and was eager to go back the next couple of days to curl up on her couch! We will definitely take him back to Marlee's in the future.
Easy to contact and fast response. Flexible with drop off and pick up.
We've now used Marlee four or five times for overnight sitting for our dog Oakley, and she has always been fantastic. She's accommodating on short notice, responsive to our requests, and always provides updates. She's always our first choice, and we appreciate her ability to tame our rowdy puppy. He's always happy to see her and it's great to be able to go away knowing he's in good hands. We highly recommend her, and hope to be able to use her again!
Absolutely a good host for our pup! She looked so comfortable in the pictures we were sent while away. Marlee made our pup feel right at home!
