Masters Student in Animal Behavior!
Pet care experience
Hi there! My name is Marissa and I am 24 years old. I am a Masters Student at Hunter College. I am getting my degree in Animal Behavior and Conservation Sciences. I am studying dog cognition as well as fostering a stud dog for the Guide Dog Foundation. My education has included a focus on animal training and welfare. I currently work for the Guide Dog Foundation in the nursery and on the whelping team. So i help deliver the puppies and care for them for their first 8 weeks of life! I have over 15 years of personal experience with pets. I’ve had 6 dogs over my lifetime as well as hedgehogs, fish, hamsters, and frogs! I have been petsitting since I was 16. I have experience with both small and large dogs as well as cats and even reptiles. I have volunteered in Wildlife rehabilitation and a cat rescue for years. I was even an intern at the Houston Zoo during the summer of 2017. I love dogs more than anything and I cant wait to meet your pupper!
Reviews
Marissa is a loving dependable dog sitter. This is the second time using her and there is so much piece of mind knowing she is watching Maggie. I was thrilled that she was free to stay with Maggie. I highly recommend her.
The beat god walker we have ever had, super reliable and awesome to deal with. Takes great care of my pup.
Marissa is awesome!
Amazing! My boyfriend and I were looking for care for our 3 month old pup and were so nervous about sending him to a center. We found Marissa the day before met her and her two labs and they all hit it off amazingly. We don’t have to worry when he’s there because we know he’s in good hands. We love that she sends us pics and checks in if she has a question. I highly recommend!

Information Marissa H. would like to know about your pet
A few things! 1) are they leash trained ? 2) how would they react to another dog? 3) how will they react to another person? 4) Does your dog have any allergies? 5) what is your dogs energy level? 6) Do they have a favorite game or toy? Such as fetch or tug of war? 7) Are there any NO-NOs I should know about? For example, we do not let our dogs on the sofa. 8) Is the dog trained in basic commands, sit, stay, down, drop it, off, come?
A typical day
I make walks interesting! It is important to expose dogs to new sights, smells, and sounds so I tried and vary my route a little each day. I am also a world expert in fetch and tug of war! I am familiar with many different cognitive exercises for canines as well!
