Pet care experience
I grew up with cats and got my first dog when I was 16 and have been loving and caring for them ever since! I started dog sitting for others in Vancouver BC, then I decided to take on dog walking, hiking, and home visits for pets while living in Baltimore. Now, in Portland, I work part time during the afternoons/evenings and have time to take care of your pets during the day! I love to walk and be outdoors, but I also love a cuddly indoor visit. I’ve had dogs with special medical needs and can administer medication as needed. My sweet doggo has a medical condition which doesn’t allow him to go for long walks, so I’d love to get my steps in with your pup!

Appreciate quick response when I needed a last minute walker for Lily.
We (especially our doggie) are so lucky to have Marissa in our lives. I fear the day when she decides to do something else. It’s just natural, comfortable, and we completely trust her with our dog and our home when we are away.
Marissa is a great walker! She is very communicative before/after walks and respectful of specific requests I had regarding my dog. She was a great help in training my excitable puppy to learn to respect boundaries and personal space both inside and outside my home!

I’m always very careful at making sure leashes are secure and ID tags are on before leaving the house. I will only allow slow introductions to other dogs if the dog parents are ok with it, and I’m very conscious of watching for behavioral issues, and making sure no street snacks are had.

A typical day
I love learning each animal’s personality and trying to figure out what they like doing best, whether it’s long walks with extra time for sniffs or playful time indoors with games.

I’m currently working part time at a dog friendly wine bar in the late afternoons and evenings. So, I’m home/available most of the morning through 3pm.
