Pet care experience
I just relocated to Oakland from Sonoma County, where I had been pet sitting/ dog walking for 7 years, mostly for a small but loyal handful of dog owners. I joined Rover to get to try to build a new network of clients/ pet owners in the Bay Area. I started pet sitting when I first moved to Sonoma County from the east coast; I was living on a small farm at the time and when word got around my office that I was good with animals, my coworkers started to ask me to pet sit when they went out of town. Word spread as they recommended me to their friends and family & next thing I knew, it was a full fledged side hustle. Over the years I've taken care of cats, dog, rabbits, goats, and lots of plants. I have taken care of several elderly & disabled pups- one of the dogs that I regularly sit is fully deaf so I am able to work with you to adjust to your pet’s needs

Marielle is an amazing sitter. She kept my pup busy and happy and clearly had fun doing it. I appreciated her sending me photos and video while I was away. I returned home and found the house as tidy (maybe even more so) than I'd left it. She even changed the guest bed. Can't rate her high enough. Thanks, Marielle!
Marielle was prompt to reply and set up a time to meet our dog. She watched our senior dog Dweezil for a week and he was completely calm and happy to see us but generally pretty bored with our return which is exactly what I like to see! She updated us exactly like I asked her to, followed the care instructions, kept Dweezil happy with puzzles in the bad weather, and left our house like she found it!

At this time, I cannot offer boarding unfortunately. Yet I am happy to care for pets in their home, and I find that some dogs are typically more comfortable in their "natural habitat", where they can stick to the routines that they’re used to. When house sitting, I am clean, conscientious, & respectful of other people's possessions. I’ve found that I’ve been able to get on the good side of even the most wary of pets by being calm, attentive, and an around- the- clock treat dispenser in the first day (unless, of course, your pet is on a diet). I communicate frequently with pet owners so that they can rest assured that their pets & property are being well cared for.. but not so frequently that it infringes on their travels.

Their favorite toys, treats. Allergies, illnesses, wounds, medications, disabilities that I should know about. How do they like to get their exercise? If they go on walks- how are they on a leash? how do they approach other people and animals? Overall, what to expect. If they are prone to barking, agitation, or aggression - what triggers this behavior and what methods are effective for calming them down.
A typical day
I love to get exercise just as much as our four legged friends so it's fun for me to run around a yard playing ball or to go for a walk or hike with your pet. After the zoomies have been released, I am happy to curl up on a couch & give snuggles & pets while I dive into a book.
