Dog (& Cat) Whisperer

Pet care experience

Whether you have a drooly behemoth or a teensy deer horn, I've probably fed, scooped, clipped, pilled, trained and cuddled with one. I've had cats, rats, fish and doggies, volunteered at shelters and for rescues, and have a long history of repeat house sitting. Pet parents have brought me out of state to take care of their homes and furbabies. People call me a Dog Whisperer (cats too) ... it's all about learning how they communicate with us and reflecting it back.

Marie was an excellent care taker of my sweet dog, Terra, and my home! She communicated often about Terra and sent almost daily photos. Terra has some health challenges and takes a few different medications. Marie followed all the necessary instructions and was conscious of all Terra needed to be happy in my absence. Marie is one of the best dog sitter's I have ever had. I strongly recommend her, especially for dogs with special needs. Thank you Marie!

Marie took wonderful care of our two older dogs, one of whom requires quite a bit of medication. She provided daily updates and pictures. Marie stayed in our home, which was great, and she was very tidy. Our pups were so happy and content when we returned home. We hope to have Marie stay with them again in the future.

Safety, trust & environment

As a longtime house sitter and former homeowner, it's my nature to be a considerate and responsible custodian, and a compassionate guardian to your cherished pet. Whether I'm pet sitting, fostering rescues or doing rescue transport, I quickly become an accepted member of their pack. I travel light, am self sufficient, and will keep your home tidy. Any issues will be communicated immediately with your pet's care and comfort being a priority.

Information Marie W. would like to know about your pet

What's something your pet does that always makes you laugh? Do they have any quirkiness that sets them apart? What's their favourite spot to be petted/stroked? Is there a spot on their body they don't like being touched? How do they typically behave around strangers (people and other dogs)? These are all things I'll find out eventually, but it's easier on both of us if I can anticipate a behaviour.

A typical day

We'll have lots of bonding time, several walks a day, and interactive playtime. I always try to combine stimulating activities and training reinforcement, whether it's practicing leash commands on a walk, or fetch and release off leash, or quiet grooming time on the floor. They say a tired pup is a good pup, so both mental and physical activity are important. Always give them an opportunity to get their zoomies out every day!

Availability

Most of my daily work can be done from wherever I have Wi-Fi and a cell signal, so I can be available for your pets' daily needs, walks, and activities. When I am called to support events, I'm typically away for about 4-5 hours at the most, usually in the evening. Recently transitioned from a house full of pets - cats, dog, rattie, mice, fish - to apartment living with lots of work travel, so petsitting/housesitting fills a desire in a way that benefits all parties.
