Pet care experience
I was a dog mom to a 15 year old pug, who I sadly had to let go in 2020. I also had a Shepherd/Border Collie mix for 10 years, so I have experience with more active dogs too. I adopted a 2 year old boston terrier/pug mix, Gizmo, in 2021. I've had a love for dogs since I was a child, and have years of experience owning, walking, and training dogs. I've had many dogs throughout my childhood and adult life ranging from a Mastiff to a malti-poo. My pug Winston was blind and deaf, so I have extra skills and love for older dogs with special needs. I've been through the Pet Partners Therapy Training program and can help if you are trying to get your dog certified as a therapy pet. Safety is my main priority and treat all dogs as if they were my own pets. I volunteered for a local animal shelter before the Pandemic walking dogs and am used to handling all energies and personalities. I am aspiring to follow my passion and become a professional dog trainer. I am currently practicing and working with my dog Gizmo on getting him certified as a therapy dog through Pet Partners. We are also practicing on agility training. I will make time to continue any training you are currently working on with your dog and can work on new skills while spending time with your dog.

Ginger had such a fun stay at Marie's house. Her dog Gizmo was a great companion as they ran and played together constantly. We know she got lots of cuddles too. We would definitely book again.

Marie is a great communicator and sooo good with our dog! I gave her a ton of instructions (probably a little overboard), but she was respectful of everything and ensured that our dog was comfortable during his stay. He came back exhausted from all of the adventures, but had the best time! Would definitely recommend Marie’s services.
Marie is absolutely the best Rover sitter we have had! She took care of our little guy as if he was her own! I requested lots of updates and she delivered and went above and beyond by sending me not only pictures, but videos too. 😍 We are so grateful to have her take care of our fur baby when we go out of town. Her working from home really allowed Frosty to not be alone for long periods of time, something that is very important to us. Her adorable doggie Gizmo is such a sweetie pie and behaved so well with our shy and sometimes antisocial Frosty. Thank you for your excellent care, love, attention, long walks, yummy treats, time and cuddles towards our little guy! 😀😊😍

For dog daycare and boarding, we will do a meet and greet outside in a neutral place to see how your dog and Gizmo get along. Once they have had time to interact and if there are no immediate issues, we can bring them into my apt so they are both comfortable in this space. Let me know what kind of treats, chew toys or bones they enjoy and I can make sure I am stocked up to help reduce any stress they may have to being in a new space. When walking dogs, I use positive reinforcement techniques to gain the dogs trust and ensure they feel safe and happy when walking with a new person. I use treats to redirect and keep Gizmo's attention on the leash, but will use any techniques you find your dog reacts to (toys, treats, positive talk, affection, etc). I am an incredibly patient person and will take the time to work on growing skills in whatever area your pup needs to improve with every walk. I enjoy dog training, practicing, and learning with every dog I care for.

A typical day
I live in inner SE Portland in Ladd's edition. I love taking walks through the rose gardens and to the nearby school park. If you are ok with a car ride, I often walk around Mt Tabor in the evenings. I love photography and will take way too many pictures while your pup stays with me. I can send you updates through out the day if you want, or post live pics to Instagram stories for you to see. I want you to feel at ease and know your dog is having a good time so you can relax and focus on your vacation, workday, or whatever it is you need to focus on.

Availability
I am currently working full time from home (In SE Portland) and have a very flexible schedule. I am able to take many walks through Ladds edition throughout the day and spend my evenings walking to the park. My dog Gizmo loves to play and we have way too many toys, so your pup will not be bored! I let them sleep on the couch so they will have a comfy place to nap as well.
