Ask me about dog training too!
Pet care experience
My family got our first dog when I was a preteen. Most of her care was my responsibility; feeding, bathing, walking her and some of her training as well. I've worked in the pet industry with dogs and other animals for about six years in various settings. I worked in a couple pet stores, both big box and mom and pop types. I have a lot of knowledge of canine nutrition as well as troubleshooting some health and dietary basics. In addition, I apprenticed with a regular customer of mine that I met through one of the pet stores. He was a well known dog trainer in that community. Through him, I learned how to make dog walks engaging by keeping your pooch focused on being and working with me on the walk instead of becoming distracted by their surroundings. Of course, for older dogs who just need to get out and stretch their bones, there's always the option for a nice stroll instead. :) For daycare or overnight boarding in my home there will be additional charges for dogs who are not housebroken/incontinent and/or not crate trained. We will discuss this case by case, but charge will not exceed $20/day. Round trip pick up and drop off within five miles is included in the up/drop off fee. There will be an extra $1/mile for each direction over five miles. (example: You live 12 miles away and need me to pick up and drop off. The first 5 miles each direction are covered in the $10 fee. There are seven miles on my way to pick up ($7) and seven miles on my way back ($7). You've already paid the $10 basic pickup/drop off fee in your booking. I will edit the booking to add $14 more to the total to cover the rest of the mileage.

Driver is not used to being away from me. Atfollows commands well but he Marie is considerate
Marie was great! Very accommodating and friendly. Smokey did extremely well with her. The best!
Marie has a lot of knowledge of and experience with dogs! She was very accommodating with our last minute booking and our wary dog, and she made sure to send updates and pictures, which I really appreciated.
Marie was able to take our 7 month old puppy Shasta only a few days before we needed a sitter. It seems like Shasta had a great time cause he was pooped once he got in the car.

We have a small, fenced backyard where the pups can play. They also have run of our downstairs for the most part. Our cats tend to stay upstairs more when we have a guest doggy over and usually discourage guest dogs from going upstairs so our cats have a place to relax away from the craziness. Guest dogs sleep downstairs in the kitchen on a pile of their own blankets and a dog bed. They are gated into the kitchen and have access to water all night. For other dogs that need more security or are not to be trusted when left to their own devices, I have a a couple crates of my own that can be used. During the summer, we tend not to go out as much both because of the smoke and extreme temperatures. We don’t want any burnt paws! My patio is covered with a shade so the concrete doesn’t get dangerously hot. The rest is mostly dirt and doesn’t absorb heat the way the concrete does. Wintertime is similar. Outside breaks are short so no one gets too cold. We also use icemelt that is safe for paws to melt any ice around our home. Any walks or adventures outside our home are always on leash for everyone’s safety.

Information Marie H. would like to know about your pet
A few things I need to know for safety: -Will they jump a fence? A four foot? A six foot? -Do they counter surf for snacks? -Food possessive? Toy possessive? -Separation anxiety? -Any food allergies? -Have they had any obedience training? -Are they crate trained?
A typical day
I have a dog friendly car, so we can go anywhere from hiking trails, to the river, or just simply around the block. Since I also have a fondness for dog training as well, I like to use Kong toys to feed meals to help mentally stimulate dogs and fulfill their need to really work for their food. My own dog wears a little set of doggy backpacks which I will load with weight to help wear him out on our walks.

I’m a stay at home mom of one amazing toddler. So aside from appointments for him or the occasional errand that must be done during the day, I’m generally home the majority of the time. We have animals of our own that I take care of as part of my day-to-day and our dog is always happy to have a new playmate to spend the day with.
