Not only have I grown up around pets mostly my entire life, but being that one of my dogs is officially blind as of a few years ago, it's given me a better sense of consideration, patience, and deeper appreciation for the unconditional love our dogs give us back. I would treat your pet as if it were my own. I currently live with two dogs, one blind, but the other is almost 3 years old and full of energy, always looking to tug on a new toy or nuzzle your face with kisses, both of which she receives wholeheartedly.
