Pet care experience
I strive to give an at-home feel type of setting for any pets who come to me! I am NOT a concrete facility that takes 20 dogs at a time that will stay in a kennel all day or be released into groups haphazardly. I accept ONE booking at a time. But, I will take up to 3 pets from the same owner! I pride myself on being able to provide proper enrichment, love, and exercise by not overloading my plate or my home! While we are 100% child-free with no visiting children or any of our own (you anti-kid pets are safe here!), we are a multi-pet home with a loving crew of pets who are excited to meet you! While your pet is here, rest assured they will be integrated into our routine as if they are one of my own. I do NOT require that dogs or cats desire to play, but your pet must be safe co-existing with other animals even if they have no intention to play because of age or personality. Please message with questions! For dogs, I offer LickiMats with owner approved toppers, frozen Kongs, wobblers, puzzle toys, treat rollers, snuffle mats, ChuckIt ball play, Flirt Pole, bumpers, tug ropes and more! No stuffed toys are offered, and all tougher toys are able to be dented with a fingernail. Toys are never left out loose to avoid risk of destruction and obstruction, as well as create a safe space for pups who may not share well. All potty breaks are walks, with opportunities to sniff and explore as well as play ball if your dog likes. A 75ft long sturdy biothane lead is provided for dogs so they may still receive an off-leash-like experience while safely tethered to me! We take a trip once per day in cooler spring/summer evenings to a park (not a dog park) 1.5 miles from home to play. I do not take any dogs to dog parks. Kitties are offered single ingredient dehydrated treats, Churu sticks, silicone grazing Grass mats, and ample access to tunnels, toys to bat around that are changed and spiced up daily. There are 2 tall cat trees, beds, scratch posts, and fountains, access to 5 different XL litter boxes cleaned 2x daily as well as an additional box that will have their supplied litter only accessible to them, a Litter Robot 4 Connect, free access to kibble and scheduled wet food feedings (if supplied) as well as 1-on-1 play with me! I am familiar with feeding raw as well, if supplied. You will see a lot of professional images as I do photography! My clients all get discount sessions from me. If you need additional pet care outside of Dogs and Cats, and I can work with that. For example, you need a drop-in for your dogs but you could also benefit from equine care, however Rover does not have an equine option. I am experienced with livestock care of all forms. I also have experience with varying species of snakes and lizards, small mammals such as rabbits, rats, ferrets and sugar gliders, and avian experience we well! From scales to feathers to fur, I have worked with, owned, trained and fostered a variety of pets. Birds, fish, reptiles, rabbits, rats, and cats and dogs and horses.. none of your pets are too far fetched to be cared for! I grew up in a tiny town in southwest MO where my family trained, showed, and competitively worked Labradors, German Shorthair Pointers, and Weims.. true country working breeds! I have never known life with no dogs. I got my first “responsible job” at 9 helping to care for foster pets in my aunt’s home to earn my fun-money. I fed their meals, bathed them, walked them, and as I got older and more interested in dogs, I even began to teach them basic tricks and obedience as they prepared for life in new adopted homes. In these years, I was learning how to deal with pets from all sorts of backgrounds, and I was saving for my first dog at the same time. I loved working with our hunting dogs at home and I got the exposure to what a high drive, high energy dog needs to thrive each and every day! I then began a more serious learning curve of formal volunteer job at 13 the summer before my Freshman year training horses where I was boarding my own American Paint Horse, as well as training that property’s Border Collies to herd their other livestock and form their obedience. In this job, I also began working with Cattle Dogs, Australian Shepherds, and large-breed Anatolians and Great Pyrenees who taught a small girl how to work with an even bigger dog! This job really kick started my passion for formally working with dogs. I learned a lot about breed diversity and how dogs can be so different from each other with their needs, temperament, and drive, and how to cater to each dog individually with those breed needs in mind. This introduction brought me to study working dogs and the varying jobs they’re bred for as a whole, thus I found my passion with protection breeds and fell in love with Dobermans which ultimately led to my purchase of my beautiful girl, Eboni, a European Doberman who is now 3 years old. On top of beginning my dog experience, I have also been a cat owner. My best pal growing up was a Bengal for 17 wonderful years (he is still alive and well!). I now have fun and quirky black cats. Feline behavior is often overlooked or ignored because we’re so used to learning about dogs and their needs that we don’t realize cats are just the same! Understanding and studying your cat is so important to their health and happiness. Thus, hiring someone who you can trust understands how to read your cat, respect and cater to them is the first priority to enjoying your vacation, and I strive to offer the highest educated care possible to accommodate both outgoing and social cats, down to very nervous and feral cats. Please reach out if you have a cat who struggles with interaction but still needs care. I have worked with dogs from Yorkies to Danes, and German Shepherds to Dachshunds. I have worked with dogs who never knew a stranger to dogs who would rather be left alone. No behavioral background is too big, and I am happy to accommodate whatever needs your dog has, easy or complex when it comes to their temperament and confidence so I can best suit your dog and create a positive experience for them. Additional meet and greets prior to beginning services on your board may be needed to help your dog adjust to my presence. I always ask for one meet and greet minimum in most cases, to ensure you are able to meet me and my crew, feel comfortable with us, and ask as many questions as needed! And also, to ensure our fur kids feel comfy with each other too! My love for animals is endless and I am always ready to welcome to next into my life to love as my own so long as they’re under my care, and even after. Every client I receive sticks with me for life! Please reach out to talk more and discuss your pet and see if we would be a fit! I require all bookings to be paid for and arrival time confirmed no less than 24 hours before they begin unless we discussed otherwise. However, if I do not receive communication from you for days in advance and then late the night before a booking, you are then ready to finalize and pay, I may miss your request to finish booking! Making sure we finalize in advance the day prior or even earlier gets us both set up for success and ready! Rover thankfully allows sitters as independent business owners to set their own standards and policies to protect our time. If on the day of your booking, you are 30 minutes late or more for your pet’s booking and I have not received any communication, this may forfeit your booking and I reserve the right to cancel with final approval of Rover Support. My policy asks for a 3 day advance cancellation and this means I do not issue refunds for last minute cancellations unless discussed otherwise on a case by case basis. Please be sure to arrive on time, or communicate any changes! I will always have my home ready for your pet to comfortably adjust and get familiar on time, and ask that arrivals come on time as well. We cannot WAIT to meet you! 🐾

Reviews

Mariah was very communicative and knowledgeable. Murph got plenty of walks, got to meet cats for the first time, and seemed comfortable and at ease when we came to pick him up.

Mariah accepted a last minute request and was very flexible with my needs. Lily enjoys her time with the family.

Mariah was wonderful!!

This was my first time and Casper’s first time using Rover and staying somewhere else besides home, and it went great! Mariah was great, plenty of updates with messages and photos! Casper was happy and seemed well cared for! Thanks again, we will be back!

Information Mariah K. would like to know about your pet
There are several things I will prefer to know about your pet before handling! Upon reaching out to me, I will send a gender specific questionnaire that will help me get an idea where your pup stands with training, and their personality and temperament! A meet and greet is usually encouraged though, there are some clients that it is not always a necessity for. However if you as the client want one, please know we can absolutely make that happen!
A typical day
I will always be ready for playing fetch until your pooch is tired and ready for the next thing, or shaking a feather for your feline until they’re bored of it. While I personally do not take my dogs to dog parks, I am more than happy to work with you if this is a regular activity for your dog and I have the experience with canine behavior to be able to make a safe call for your pet if I feel other animals at the Dog Park are not creating a safe environment for yours. I enjoy taking dogs to lower populated areas and working on enrichment in other ways. Some dogs find toys more exciting to toss and tug and others would rather sniff out a yummy snack behind a bleacher or in some tall grass with provided treats or kibble. In home, LickiMats and Snuffle Mats are wonderful enrichment! I also utilize many Nina Ottossen Puzzles and other dog enrichment games.

Availability
I have a private business boarding pets and I also do Rover, combined they are full time for me, and such a blessing! I came from a full time 12 day on 2 day off work life of overnights at a factory and working in armed security as well. I understand the struggle of loving your pets and wanting the best for them but struggling to balance it, because you also have to prioritize whatever pays to live. That’s what I’m here for! I am generally flexible and happy to accommodate schedules within my means that balance with my other bookings. At this time I do not accept any new daycare clients, and no drop offs before 9AM. If you need an early drop off, reach out about a complimentary night for dropping off the night before instead!
