Hello I’m Maria, and I’m a lover of animals big and small. I live in West AVL with my partner and our two dogs (a Catahoula/pit mix & a Chi/Jack Russell mix) and three cats. My professional pet care experience is just over 5 years, providing pet visits, walks, and daycare as an independent caretaker and also for local businesses Lumen Concierge, Canine Social Club, Down Dog (Dog Bar & Yoga Studio), and WagBar (dog park & dog-friendly bar). I also volunteer at Brother Wolf and have completed their dog safety and harnessing classes. If you feel we’d be a good fit I’d love to connect and help you with your pet needs as well! Services: *My standard rates will vary depending on location, type/number of pets, or any special needs Initial meeting: This is the time for me to meet with you and your pet, either in your home or at a nearby location, to decide if we are a good fit. You can show me anything I’ll need to know regarding pet behaviors, feeding routines, etc. Drop-ins visits: Visits to your home (typically 30 mins and up to 60 mins) include quick potty breaks, cuddles/playtime, food/water refresh, litter box cleanup, and check-ins with pictures of your pet. Dog walking: Walks vary from 30 mins to an hour, and we can stay in your neighborhood or travel to a nearby park or trail - whatever would be fun for your dog(s)! I typically walk one dog at a time but can handle up to two medium sized dogs if they’re well-behaved on a leash.

Maria took excellent care of our two cats while we were out of town. Such a relief having someone trustworthy to check in on them. She kept us updated the entire time and sent us some sweet pictures. We definitely will rebook again with her in the future.
Maria was great with our cat, Barly. She was great with communicating and setting up her visits. She was on time and followed all the care directions we left, and she sent great photos that let us know how Barly was doing. She took time to pet him, play with him, and keep him company during each visit. We will definitely book with Maria again!
Maria was awesome with caring for our kitties! We felt so much better knowing that they were taken care of and happy. Maria sent pictures and communication was great! We will definitely ask Maria to watch our cats again.
Maria was so sweet and did great with our cat Merlin. Maria sent daily update pictures and videos, checking in each day. We knew Merlin was in great hands and received a lot of love.

I am a loving and patient pet care provider, and I enjoy spending time with animals in general. Getting to know someone’s pet and earning their trust is a privilege and one which I take seriously. I can’t provide boarding currently, although my partner and I do have a fenced-in yard, so maybe in the near future! However I can provide drop in visits and walks in your home/neighborhood.

It’s important to me be able to feel comfortable around pets so that they can feel comfortable too. Please let me know of any behavioral quirks, toy/food aggressions, stressors, special needs, routines, or anything out of the ordinary about the neighborhood that will make visits/walks with your pet run more smoothly.
A typical day
Whenever I visit my clients’ homes I always make sure to follow their instructions to keep their furry friends safe, and of course I give them lots of love and attention. Depending on the client’s request we might take a brisk or leisurely walk around the neighborhood, or even take a drive to the dog park. Sometimes a visit includes just a quick potty break and some playtime w toys. If an animal friend is particularly anxious I’ve found that sitting nearby while reading aloud from a book can be soothing for them.

I work part-time four to five days a week at a downtown shop and a dog park/bar, so my available hours for pet care may vary a bit.
