Pet care experience
I live with my 17-year old son in Takoma, DC. We love, love dogs (and cats!), and have been pet sitting on Rover and friends' pets for years. I own my place which is a 3 BR semi-attached townhouse with a small fenced in backyard. We have two cats. Nemo is 6 years old and very chill around dogs (as in completely ignores them.) Bambi is 3 years old and initially shy, but curiosity wins after a day or two! My son and I both went through a training class with Guiding Eyes for the Blind on how to train Seeing Eye dogs, and we also puppy-sat in the past for the organization.

In the house, I can use gates to create separate areas as needed, for example during feeding time. I have space both in the living room and upstairs bedroom for a crate, if your dog needs it. My backyard is fenced in but a "jumper" could hop the not very tall fence. I never leave any animal outside unsupervised. I'm totally fine with administering medicine to dogs and cats. Please note - I always require a meet and greet prior to accepting a new client. No last minute requests for this reason, unless I've watched your dog before.

I love any affectionate, sweet dog. If your dog loves running and long walks, I'm up for it. If they want to sleep all day, I'll provide an extra blanket! Deal breakers: Constant barking, nipping tendencies, chasing my cats, and aggressive behavior with other dogs/in general. I'll need to know of any leash reactivity, if prone to potty accidents, and food guarding. No specific breed preferences. I only ask that your dog is good around kids and cats. Looking forward to getting to know your pup!
A typical day
Whatever your dog’s needs are I will do my very best to accommodate. I know it can be stressful for a pet to come to a stranger’s home. We enjoy going for walks around our Takoma neighborhood and also head over to Sligo Creek trail frequently. If your dog is high energy I’d love to jog with him/her. I’ll make sure your dog gets plenty of play time and cuddles.

I work regular office hours M-F. If your dog needs a mid-day walk I might not be a good fit, unless it's a weekend stay. I will provide a long morning walk, a long evening walk, and a shorter (10-15 mins) before bed walk.
