West LA pet lover/walker/sitter!
Pet care experience
Hi there! My name is Maria. Nice to make your Rover app-pet-sitter/walker-acquaintance. :) At one point or another in my life, I have owned dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, you name it! I used to help out at local pet adoption centers when they were low on staff, so I’ve gathered great training tips along the way. Now, for the past 8 years, I’ve becoming the go-to dog sitter for friends, family, and now returning customers. I’ve really enjoyed my time with each animal I’ve cared for and of I’m lucky and patient enough, even the timid ones come around to enjoying my presence. It’s made me very adaptable to so many different breeds, sizes, and behaviors.
Reviews
Maria was awesome. she made me feel totally at peace leaving my 3 dogs with her. She was respectful and followed all the directions I left. She sent pictures and have updates. will definitely have her back again!
Maria was a wonderful sitter for our anxious pup, Zag! She asked great questions before his stay, sent the perfect amount of updates and took him on long walks each day. Thank you Maria for making Zag’s stay so comfy!
This is our second long weekend boarding with maria. She is friendly and responsible - my dog can be needy and she always makes both of us feel heard and comfortable! thank you again maria!

I am a very patient dog sitter. I do not overwhelm them but I do and will at times bribe them with toys or treats which I have many. My apartment is also gated so even if any of the dogs have the urge to escape, there’s really no place for them to go. I do however, live in a very dog friendly neighborhood with big grass areas as well as long walking paths in the event I need to tire out an energetic pup.

Information Maria M. would like to know about your pet
I like to know the temperament of the dog first and foremost so I know how I should greet the dog. I also like to know how they are with males and females because I share my apartment with a male. I also want to know if they’re good around other dogs because my neighborhood is filled with them. Lastly, I’d like to know if they are use to dog sitters or if it’s their first time so I can analyze whether a meet and greet is needed or not.
A typical day
I first like to find out the dog/cat I’ll be sitting schedule first just to make sure it would align with my routine without going to off course. The worst thing to do is to get a pet out of their routine. That’s where problems arise. I am pretty flexible with my time but for the most part, the mornings are quiet, the afternoons I’ll usually do a long walk out with the pup I’m with, maybe some playtime when we get back while I’m taking my lunch break, and the evenings are also pretty quiet.

Availability
I work from home so my schedule can be flexible if a dog needs more walks to get out all that pent up energy or if they need a bit more attention because they’re anxious in a new environment.
