I’ve always had a love for animals, so much so, that for many years throughout my childhood I dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. I’ve had the privelage of growing up with dogs since age 4, and truly believe that spending time with and taking care of animals is one of my greatest passions. Although my educational and career path veered in the direction of working with people in the social work profession, I still very much consider myself a “dog mom” and love finding ways to incorporate this into my life as well. As a teenager, I gained experience in house/pet sitting for family members and friends who were going on weekend trips or vacations (this included caring for multiple dogs at a time, as well as other animals such as hamsters, birds, cats, and plants). I always took great pride in providing the best care possible for these animals, which lead to my family/friend’s parents referring me to their friends as a sittter. Throughout my time in undergraduate and graduate school, I spent much of my free time between classes pet sitting and house sitting, as well as caring for my family pets over the summer (a boxer, miniature pischer mix, and cat).
