Ever since I was really young, I have been raised around dogs, cats, and other animals, but currently, I own a cat and a dog. Being surrounded by animals all my life has really made me appreciative of these creatures that walk the earth with us, and to help their quality of life more, I decided to pursue a career in animal care! I graduated from college with an Animal Management diploma. During my time at college, I earned required work experience at a doggy daycare centre for a year. There I was able to learn all about dog management. My job entailed playing and taking care of puppies, adult dogs, and slightly older dogs; I would feed them, provide them with enrichment activities, and ensure that any incidents between dogs would be dealt with appropriately. Being able to work at a doggy daycare taught me a great deal about different dog temperaments and has made me more confident when dealing with more ‘challenging’ dogs, and when dealing with potential dog fights or reactive behaviours. I am currently in my second year of university, taking an Animal Management degree, specialising in Pet Behaviour and Welfare. The degree I am taking allows me to learn all about an animal’s behaviour, and really goes into depth about training animals, whether it be a dog, cat, or wild animal. Using the training experience I have acquired from this course, I am also willing to attempt to train your pet on a basic level if desired by the owner. I also tend to pet sit a family friend’s dog, extending my personal experience when taking care of dogs.
