Dog Advocate

Pet care experience

I believe dogs are family members and should be treated as such. My two true passions are the Law and Dogs. I'm an attorney by trade and my life currently includes two beautiful dogs. The first is the family dog, Buckley. She is a long legged Rhodesian Ridgeback whose patience for testing ours is endearing. The second dog is Nellie - technically belonging to my older sister, who is also my roommate . Nellie is a Springer Spaniel/Pointer mix - the product of my Southern Uncle's attempt at breeding the perfect hunting dog. Fortunate for us, Nellie turned out gun shy and was gifted to my sister as her 2013 Christmas present. My first experience with dogs was a Boxer named Jake. He was my family's first dog and loved to run and play hide-and-seek. Jake passed away at the early age of 8 due to severe mobility problems. Dutch, our Chocolate Lab, soon followed Jake's passing. Dutch loved to swim, early morning runs and had the spirit of a young pup right up until he went to the big dog park in the sky. Buckley, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, is the newest member of our clan. However stubborn, she is a quick learner and has never passed up the opportunity to snuggle on the couch. My Experience with dog sitting began when I was 11 years old. I grew up in a neighborhood of 30+ homes. As a reprieve to our neighbors, my sisters and I would spend the afternoon taking neighbors and friends' dogs on long walks. This would include walks in the park, training sessions and swim lessons. That quickly turned into over nights and weekend pet sitting. I know the joy that dogs can bring to individuals and truly believe -a Dog's Love is never ending. I would love to be a friend to your four legged family member. Why I love dog sitting I was raised in a family of dog lovers. Our first dogs was a boxer, Jake. I was 6 years old when we brought him home. Dutch, our Chocolate Lab, was brought home after Jake passed away. Not as a replacement, but simply because we love dogs and enjoy the companionship they bring to our lives. Dutch lived to be 12 and after he passed Buckley, our Rhodesian Ridgeback. became the newest member of the family. She is not yet 6 months old but is a quick learner and becoming a great office dog. My experience administering medication Administering medication is something I am comfortable with. A close friend's dog has diabetes and required daily insulin shots, which I have administered on many occasions while he was in my care. I have also nannied for elderly and recovering dogs who were required to take medication.

This was our first time having Margot check-in on our two labs while we were on vacation and we had no worries the entire stay! We will most certainly be calling her again in the future and would recommend her to any of our friends or family. Thanks again, Margot!

Margot was wonderful!!! I can't say enough good things. She stayed at our house for a full week with 3 large dogs, of all ages and quirks. The youngest is a handful and the oldest is on meds and is a very nervous dog. They all loved her! We have a neighbor that always keeps an eye on things and told us the dogs were crazy about her. They all got walks every day, the youngest got to run with her and loved it. This is the first time we have had someone come stay with the dogs and the fact that we were able to completely relax on our vacation was so much better than boarding in a kennel. We will definitely use Margot again and now that we have found such a great sitter we don't have to avoid going away for the weekend because of the dogs. She sent pictures and updates daily so we always knew how the dogs were doing. The dogs were relaxed and happy when we got home and she even vacuumed! If I could give her more stars I would. Thanks Margot!!!

This was our first time using Margot for our dog. She was great! She let us know that she was able to get into our house OK. She sent regular updates on our dog and was very prompt in responding. We really appreciated the daily photo and/or videos! We will use her again.

Information Margot P. would like to know about your pet

Being a dog lover and knowing that each dog has their different qwerks, I feel the dog(s) are less anxious during the time the owner is gone if I know whether they have a favorite toy, game, walking trail, or window to squirrel watch. I usually ask the duration of play because I understand many breeds, like Labradors, could play till their paw are raw whereas some dogs are limited by health or physical aliments. I also like to know whether the dog is praise or food driven. This allows be to better react and control the dog's behaviors. Lastly, whether the dog(s) play well with other dogs.

A typical day

Every dog and every owner is different. My goal is to mimic the typical amount of attention and play your dog receives at home. If my schedule does not allow for this, we can discuss your expectations. If I am unable to fulfill the expectations, I will promptly let you know. Extra house-sitting services: Picking up the mail, watering plants, receiving packages. Everyday household tasks that keep your mind from fretting while you're away.
