Upbeat and Loving Pet Sitter!

Pet care experience

Hi! Tug of war is my favorite game, so if your pet is down, so am I. Or maybe they're more of a lap dog and fancy some puppy snuggles. If they're hyperactive (like my pit bull boxer mix growing up) then a little time running around might be their style. I have experience with puppies, service dogs, and senior dogs. When my family dog hit age 17 the arthritis and incontinence kicked in. I used to give him his medication, walk him every couple hours, feed him, clean up after him, help him up and down stairs, and take him to the vet. After my dog passed and I moved to San Diego, I started pet sitting for friends. I’ve cared for a Wheaton terrier while his parents were on a trip back to their hometown, as well as a beautiful fluffy old-timer named Nala while mom and dad were in Ecuador. I’ve boarded a few friends’ dogs (though am currently unable to board), as well as house-sat while caring for a golden retriever, pair of terriers, large shepherd mix, toy labradoodle, and other pups. I treat the dogs and homes as I would my own, sending pics of happy pups and leaving the house clean so there’s nothing to worry about. I love making people happy! And I have a serious soft spot for animals. Past jobs include: babysitter, camp counselor, sales associate, tutor, teaching assistant in France, organic farm worker in Turkey, and gardener and dog walker in southern France. Most recently, I was a content writer and manager for a nonprofit. Right now, I’m going back to school for nutrition science and taking prerequisite courses at community college in San Diego. I would love to help put your mind at ease while you’re away from home, whether you need a pet sitter or dog walker. You can be sure that I'll be on time, honest, and ready to take great care of your pet! Feel free to ask me for references. :-)

Our 5 year old Wheaten has never been boarded, when leaving town for a week on vacation we needed someone who was willing to stay at our place and treat him as if he was their own. Margaux went above and beyond to make us feel conferable leaving our pup at home with her. She sent us updates on how he was feeling (he had gotten sick the week prior and wasn't eating when we left town) and pictures of him to make us smile. I more then trust Margaux to watch the house, keep it clean and take care of our pup when we are out of town, she is super reliable and great at communicating. I never worry when she is taking care of everything while I am away for vacation or work. Anyone would be lucky to have her help!

In a client’s home, I double check that all the instructions are clear - and I always take notes after talking with the client. I work around the pet’s schedule for walks and mealtime, and will make sure to have some playtime or dog park adventures (depending on instructions). I’m also a very clean and organized person. Everything will go back in its place, so no one is searching for the can opener or the dog’s leash after I leave! Anything you have a question about, please ask! I want my clients to feel relieved and happy leaving their pets in my care.

Information Margaux T. would like to know about your pet

What is their favorite treat? Do you feed them some human foods or strictly dog food and treats? Do they like to be held? Are they generally friendly with people and/or other dogs? Are there any behaviors I should know about (like the dog pees every time the doorbell rings or the cat likes to hide in the closet)? Any house rules to note?

A typical day

Let’s see.. throwing squeaky toys, tug of war, playing the dog version of tag where there’s no rules (or winners), racing them up a hill, singing to them (I have had some captive audiences for such a mediocre voice), practicing commands, and engaging them in other fun ways. I’m also happy to hike with them on the dog-friendly trails we have in San Diego (with extra water in tow)!
