Pet care experience

Taking care of pets is truly my heart's calling and I’ve made it my career. My husband and I run MyFavoritePetNanny based in Brighton. We are knowledgeable and trustworthy pet sitters, insured and bonded, who will care for your pets and home the way you would. Whether you have a zoo (we do) or just one or two, let us put your mind to ease and provide your pets and home the love, respect, and care each deserves. We strive to have you genuinely call us "My Favorite Pet Nanny". With our patience, empathy, and kindness we tend to adopt special needs pets of our own, so we have years of experience with cancer, hip dysplasia, blindness, deafness, diabetes, hypothyroidism, seizures and providing gentle physical assistance to the seniors as needed. We are observant, aware and watchful as our pets can’t always tell us when something is wrong. Administering medications, supplements, and injections has been a part of our daily lives with these senior and "hospice" care pets. On the days and times where you can't be there, we will provide you with a detailed visit report to let you know who does what business in the yard, if there were any indoor accidents and anything else that is notable, plus we will send you pictures or videos of your pets while under our care. We are happy to spend our time doting after your pets. My love of pets has led me to volunteer, and as the Online Editor for the National Cockatiel Society for a couple of years, I handled their website and monitored a message board receiving 3,000 emails a month from parrot owners seeking help with their birds. That earned me the nickname of "Dear Abby" of the cockatiel world, thanks to the local newspaper discovering my achievements. I’ve been recognized for my dedication to animals and pet care expertise from Michigan State Senator Basham (2004). Please get in touch with us to find out how we can put our expertise to work for you. We look forward to meeting you and your pets. Margaret My Favorite Pet Nanny

I am a friend of Margaret, and when I met her it was instant friendship. Her kindness and caring way was so present to me. It was not until maybe a month later that I was able to meet her extended family which consisted of her husband, her 3 elderly dogs with special needs and all of her birds. I was floored. Margaret's dedication to the care that she gives to her pets is amazing. She cares for her dogs so well. Because all three dogs had different medical problems she adjusted all of their meals with homeopathic remedies to help with aches and pains and spared no expense. Although these dogs are in pain and somewhat crippled, they are so well behaved and very loveable. It really does take a really dedicated and patient person to adopt elderly dogs with apparent physical problems. Margaret did not care. Margaret knew they needed love and attention. She goes above and beyond in the care of her pets. She is definitely a person that I would recommend as a caregiver for any type of pet.

You could call Margaret "the Mother Teresa" of the canine world. Since her childhood she has always been an advocate for dogs and the dogs seem to sense it. My Schauzer loves it when Margaret visits. Margaret. herself, has adopted. loved and cared for both a blind dog and a deaf dog. I'm completely at ease when my beloved 12 year old puppy is in Margaret's care My only concern is she might not want to come home. (No Margaret doesn't TREAT them she loves them.)

Information Margaret M. would like to know about your pet

Has the dog shown aggression towards people or other animals? Has your dog bitten anyone? Does your dog have any medical conditions or require medication? Is your dog food aggressive. Is your dog potty trained? How would you expect your dog to act if a stranger came in through the door? Does your dog have any favorite toys or games they like to play. Are there any areas your dog does not like to be touched?

A typical day

I would love to take your dog for a walk, weather permitting. Many acres of wooded walking trails in my backyard, we can walk out to the lake in front of my house for swimming and splashing. Lots of fun can be had in the fenced portion of my backyard, playing fetch, resting on the shady grass, playing with my dogs.
