Home full-time-walk frequently

Pet care experience

I have had dogs as pets over many years although I don't have a pet at this time. I've always loved dogs and they seem to get along with me too. I've had a very small dog, Maltese, and some larger, Samoyed, Dalmatian, Elk Hound cross. I love dogs and I miss having a one around the house. I'm home in a farm house alone and would like to care for a pet, your dog, here. There's a big yard but no fence so I'd be walking your dog frequently, rain or shine or snow. My dogs were allowed on the furniture except when they are muddy or wet. I'd have towels available after walking in the rain and treats, if allowed. Keeping the dog safe and comfortable would be primary as the dog would be in unfamiliar surroundings. I feel that dogs naturally want to be happy and loved.

Even though our dog was very happy to see us after nearly a four-week stay with Margaret, he clearly had a positive connection with her. She has a calm, patient demeanor that is comforting to dogs, and an honest nature that inspires complete trust in her for dog-owners. She sent several email updates and much appreciated photos, keeping us reassured that he was in very good care, indeed. We are very grateful to Margaret.

The minute Petito (our dog) saw Margaret he was calm and comfortable. Margaret was very conscientious about his medical needs, giving him many precise medications with great care. My husband and I were able to relax on our get away knowing he was going to be just fine! Thanks again Margaret!

Margaret did a terrific job with my small schauzer poodle mix dog Maiah. She took her for walks, let Maiah sleep on her bed and was patient and calm with my sometimes challenging dog. I haven't left her with anyone but family in the past, but I would certainly ask Margaret again if I need a place for Maiah to stay.

Margaret took very good care of our senior dog who is mostly deaf and has poor eyesight. She kept him happy and safe in her home. He was calm when we picked him up and seems to have had a relaxing weeklong stay. Margaret sent us photos and updates which were very reassuring. We will definitely look to Margaret first, the next time we need to board our dog in Maine.

I keep dogs leashed outdoors at all time. It's an important safety concern for me. I would never take a chance that your pet would not come when called. I try to adhere to any feeding schedule that you may have for your dog. I don't give the pet any food other than your specifications. I take no chances that there may be food that is not good for the dog.

Information Margaret D. would like to know about your pet

I don't have a breed preference but would appreciate a dog that had some basic training: not jumping up on people, tables and walks on a leash since all dogs are leashed here, etc.

A typical day

There is a country lane that is off main road and is a great walk for me and the dog. I have a large meadow beside my house as well.
