Pet care experience
My story: after almost 15 years of managing a pet supply store I noticed there was a serious lack of professional and reliable pet-sitters and dog-walkers in the area. I felt that I had the knowledge and experience and love of cats and dogs necessary to fill the gap. I have since been insured and bonded, as well as seeking certification in pet first-aid. I truly love keeping critters safe and happy in their homes while their family is at work or on vacation. Dog walks are a minimum of 1/2 an hour and include lots of petting, playing, and love--not to mention treats! For vacation care, I prefer in-house sitting where I stay overnight in the owner's house, as opposed to boarding. I'm certain that this approach reduces pets' stress by minimizing interrupting their daily routines.
Reviews
Margaret was the best cat-sitter. She really spent time playing and cuddling with our old cat Zoe. And she wasn’t put off by the fact that Zoe had a terminal (but currently stable) illness. She also updated us with the cutest pictures and we had no concerns at all. Even left Zoe a new cat toy. Thanks Margaret!
Margaret took excellent care of our two cats while we were away. Her love of animals and kindness really put my mind at ease during our two week trip! Will 100% be a repeat client!
Excellent pet sitter. Highly recommend.
Margaret is our dog Harley’s regular twice a week walker, and honestly I cannot say enough about how much we love, trust and are grateful for her! She always goes beyond, taking Harley on new walks every time, exploring new places, let’s our puppy get loads of new experiences. If you’re looking for someone to care for your pets, look no further!

I do not provide care for pets in my home. I exclusively provide services in clients' own homes, for the reasons described in the notes above.
Information Margaret B. would like to know about your pet
My view is that clients can never give me too much information. Does your pet have any food sensitivities, behavioural quirks, etc? Are there issues with the neighbourhood that we should know about, such as aggressive dogs? Are there any issues with the house we should know about, like a toilet that runs or lights that don't work? Is there parking on site? Emergency contact information is required especially if you'll be out of reach.
A typical day
My aim is to replicate the care that your companion animal would normally enjoy when you're at home. I provide at least one 1/2 hour visit / walk per day; meals and medication as usual; playing as much or as little as desired. I bring in the mail and water plants as required. Note that I DO NOT, under any circumstances, let dogs off-leash, either in the forest or at dog parks. I also maintain a strict policy of not allowing pets to interact with other people or animals while out on walks. (Even if your dog is great with other dogs, there's no guarantee that other dogs will reciprocate!)

Availability
I currently work from home. This means that cat-sitting visits are done first thing in the morning and / or around dinner time. I have limited capacity for dog walks at this time, particularly outside of my service area.
