Pet care experience

EXPERIENCE: There hasn’t been a year in my life without pets. I’ve owned cats, dogs, hamsters, birds, and a guinea pig. I spent years on farms as a little girl. I am a die-hard animal lover and believe they deserve the utmost care and respect. They are so incredible; they give us unconditional love and have the most amazing personalities and quirks. I love them all! I have spent countless hours in my life helping shelters and donating to animal welfare. In our old neighborhood I worked with a cat rescue to capture feral cats (with heart traps), and have them spayed and neutered. I monitored them in my home after their surgeries then let them back into the wild. This put a stop to the endless reproduction of kittens among that 20+ colony of cats. I have picked up starving stray dogs, nursed them to health and found them homes. It’s been a humbling and teaching experience. I am raising my children to love and respect animals. Our world needs more of this! I am adept at administering medications including pills, liquids, topicals and eye drops. I have nurtured old and dying pets of my own as well as having chased after rambunctious kittens and puppies. FOR YOU: I will provide daily text updates and pictures so you know your pet is being well taken care of. You are welcome to check in any time to see how your pet is doing. CARE: My husband and I are home full time. Your dog will have full access to our home and fenced back yard. Pets under our care will always be supervised and will be treated just like our own! ENVIRONMENT: We have a large home and large fully fenced backyard for your pet’s enjoyment. S/he will receive full time care and attention. We will provide daily walks, play, rest and snuggles. Fresh water is always out inside and outside and we feed according to your dog's schedule. SAFETY / HEALTH: We do not use weed killer on our property. I pull weeds by hand and use vinegar to kill any large weeds. In my home we use only non-toxic cleaners. Fresh water from our reverse osmosis system will be provided daily. The dog treats are all-natural, free of dyes, artificial ingredients and by-products. If we grill while your pet is in our care (and it’s ok with you) your pet will receive a small treat of organic, free-range chicken and/or beef. OUR FUR BABY and REAL BABIES: We have a 4 year old Maltipoo, Slinky, and a 7 month old Shih Tzu, Puff, who would love to play with your dog. We also have 2 children, 7 & 9, who absolutely adore animals. Please know my children will never be with your pets alone for your safety and ours. I will be your pet’s full time caregiver. Any accommodations are welcome. Is your pet shy? Do they have special needs? Are they on a special diet? Funny quirks? No problem! I'm sure I've seen it all! MEET AND GREET: I require a meet and greet at my home prior to booking. This is so I can get to know your dog and you can get to know me. This also helps the dog to get to know my family and our home. Come boarding time they will already have our scent and our home/property scent. During the meet and greet we’ll talk about your dog’s habits, personality, daily routine, etc. My husband and I are home full time so your dogs will have 24/7 care. When we are watching dogs it is our job and therefore they will not be left alone. We have a large home and large fully fenced backyard for your pet’s full time enjoyment. We will provide daily walks, play, rest and snuggles. If we visit a local park rest assured your dog will be on-leash at all times. We have car harnesses for your dog's safety. During a walk we are very aware of the environment and do not allow other dogs near your dog. We keep them off hot pavement and black top and will not venture into dense/weeded areas where they might come in contact with anything that can harm them, i.e. fleas, ticks, snakes, sharp objects or plants.

If I could give Marcy more stars, I would. I feel so lucky to have found Marcy and her family. They are so loving, caring and make your pet feel like a part of their family. Marcy is so accommodating and flexible, she really caters to your pet’s needs. Bruno loved playing with their dog, Slinky. I think he really misses her now! I really appreciated all the emails with photos and updates during our week away. We completely trust Marcy and would love to have Bruno stay with her again.

Marcy and are family are very sweet, kind and loving. My dog had a great time with them. Marcy sent us updates and pictures every day. I had no doubt she's in loving hands. I highly recommend her!

What an amazing dog-loving, affectionate family! I can't say enough about how much I appreciated all the photos and updates. To see our little guy bouncing in the yard, bright-eyed, smiling, in pounce position, snuggly sleeping at Haig's neck and even going for a walk with Slinky--we know Pono had a great time and even put on some muscle mass during his stay! Marcy was so kind and flexible with drop-off and pick-up, her kids were so sweet, and after pickup, Pono slipped back into home life without even "scolding" us for being gone. I think he thought we sent him on a great little vacation and he can't wait for the next one!

It was my first time leaving my pup while I traveled out of town. By far the best dog sitter! Marcy and her family did a great job watching Milo. I got several texts, pictures and videos updating me on Milo while I was away. Marcy catered to Milo and even hand fed him his dinners (he’s picky ??‍♂️). Thank you, Marcy and family (and Slinky of course)!

Information Marcy K. would like to know about your pet

YOUR DOG: Tell me about your dog. What does s/he like? What’s the personality like? Does s/he experience anxiety, like to sleep alone, free feed, not a cuddler, etc. Let’s discuss so I know how to best take care of your beloved pet! DROP OFF and PICK UP HOURS: You may drop your pet off at my home as early as 8 am. You may pick up your pet as late as 7 pm. If you have a very early trip departure, I recommend you bring your pet to me the night/day before, but this does incur an additional night charge. PRICING: One overnight boarding fee covers 24 hours. I give a 3 hour grace period for pick up. After the grace period you will incur a small fee for the day. If it's only an hour or two over the grace, we can discuss. I'm flexible! Any questions about this? Let’s chat.

A typical day

ACTIVITIES: We will throw balls and toys in the backyard. We will take neighborhood walks and park walks (if approved by you). I’m not a fan of dog parks because of the unknowns. I’d rather be safe than sorry, especially with a client’s dog. Your pet is free to be on our furniture and can even sleep in the beds if s/he chooses to. We treat your pets like ours but we let them tell us what they want and need during their stay. THE FINE PRINT: Please make sure your pet is clean and free of fleas prior to their stay with us. We are highly sensitive to fleas in my family and I need to be mindful of my home, our pet and other client’s dogs staying with us. If your pet is a heavy shedder please groom them prior to the stay. Your dog must be potty trained to stay in our home. Let’s discuss if you have concerns! Your dog must be up-to-date on vaccinations. I would like your veterinarian contact info and a local family/friend to contact in case of an emergency.
