Senior Pet Care Specialist

Pet care experience

Hi! My name is Marcus and I'm a senior pet care specialist here in San Diego. Growing up, I've always had dogs and cats in my family and have a ton of experience with pets of all shapes, sizes, breeds, and ages. Over the last 15 years, I've directed my attention to senior pets in particular having just completed my 4th senior pet adoption. I specialize in helping older and lower energy dogs & cats with things like day care, overnight boarding, drop-in visits, house sittings, daily walks, etc. If a senior pet needs help with any type of care, chances are I've seen it and worked with it in the past. Some of the things I can do for your pet include: - medication administration (i.e. pills, injections, inhalers, etc.) - scheduled feeding for special diets - care for dogs with special needs (i.e. blind, deaf, incontinent, injured) - post-op care - pets needing private rooms away from other pets - ...and more! Your pet will be showered with love, cuddles (if they like), refreshments, and a warm cozy bed in our climate controlled rooms. Feel at ease while you're away at work or out on vacation knowing your pet is taken care of! I'll provide you with multiple daily updates, photos and videos of your furry loved one. I work hard to learn about and stick to your pet's daily schedule to ensure they have the most comfortable stay possible while they're with me. You can trust that leaving an older pet in my care is possible for you and that they will receive the extra attention they deserve while you're away!

Marcus was really great and he took our pugs. He was really accommodating to our situation when we were running late and we always want to keep going back to him whenever we need a sitter. And definitely would recommend him to anybody looking for professional dog sitter. Thank you!!!

This was my first time boarding my 17 year old pup in 12 years. Her stay with Marcus exceeded my expectations. The daily updates calmed my worries. The staff are so caring with senior pups and attentive to their individual needs. Will definitely use them again.

Safety, trust & environment

Our senior pets are allowed to roam free throughout my rooms. There are multiple dog beds in every room so they'll be sure to find a good spot to rest. Most of the time I'll take bigger dogs with moderate energy on longer walks to release some energy. In my place, we have multiple rooms where dogs can be separated if needed. There will be 24-hour care and dogs will not be left alone at our location at any point of the day. If I were at your home for services, I would make sure that things are kept neat and how you left them, follow your directions and be respectful of your property. I make sure I treat your home and your pets the same way I treat mine; with love and respect.

What would make your pet a good fit for services? - they are friendly with other pets and people - they are not aggressive (or have a history of aggression) especially with food or toys - they have low to moderate energy - they don't force play on other pets - they are quiet and do not bark and howl - they get along well with dogs of all sizes (we often have additional bookings within our care)

A typical day

I run a low energy, resort-style stay for our senior pets. Our place feels like a home where the dogs are allowed to roam free without kennels (unless you provide a crate for them). The dogs get walked around Hillcrest every 2-3 hours and relax indoors in our climate controlled rooms. There's beds in every room and also private rooms for pets that like to be alone. Throughout the day, I work on making sure pets stay on schedule with their special diets, medications, treats, walks, post op treatments, etc. Outside of that, your senior pet will be hanging out with all of our other senior buddies while you're gone. You'll get updates throughout their stay to give you peace of mind that your pet is enjoying their vacation while you're away.

I do this full time so I have a lot of time to hang out with your pets, take them for daily walks, give them treats, and cater to their medication and feeding schedules. I provide around the clock 24/7 care for your pets and they will not be left alone at our place during the day or overnight. Your pet will always have someone catering to them throughout their stay with me. Out of respect for my time, I ask that all pick ups happen before 9pm. While I provide 24-hour care, I usually close all the doors at 9pm. I understand that schedules might change, especially when a flight is involved and I'm happy to accommodate those changes for you, but generally pick ups before 9pm would be much appreciated. *If any pickups that need to happen outside of my regular business hours (8am - 9pm) then I will charge an additional fee of $10 to accommodate your request.
