Experienced Pet Care Fenced Yard

Pet care experience

We retired early and have volunteered with both the animal shelter & the SRL dog rescue. We recently ran the rescue for 6 weeks while the director was out of town. This required us to give medications, take dogs to vet appts & surgeries & provide after care. We have also been the go to family for pregnant dogs and helped them deliver their puppies & raise them in our homes until they were ready for adoption. We were both raised on farms and are educated about animal care and have a general love for all animals. We are home almost every day I take care of my husband who is a disabled veteran. Occasionally we have medical appointments, button otherwise we are home. We have a large home with leather furniture that we allow pets on. They are also allowed on the bed. There is a doggy door and ramp that allows them access to the outdoors. We have a giant back yard with 6” privacy fencing that even very talented escape artists have not gotten out of. The tiniest & most determined rescue dogs could not get out. All of our dogs are spayed. We have 2 Jack Russells & a service dog who is a rescue German Shepard Doberman. She has been trained through Midwest Battle Buddies in Rosehill KS. There were 18 dogs in my house while we where running the rescue. These girls are pretty good at being friends with other dogs. We gradually introduce them and make sure everyone stays safe & then watch them play for 30 minutes or so before leaving to spend time solo to play on their own. We allow them to come & go outside as much as they want. Their is water & food available inside & out so they can be where they are happy. If we notice a dog possibly secluding itself, we hold it & help it gain the confidence to feel welcome in the environment. It is not uncommon for me to have 7 dogs on my lap & I love it!!

I’d trust Marcie with our puppy again. She knows a lot about dogs and kept us updated throughout his stay.

Marcie, James and their kids were wonderful! Our 1st time using Rover and it went great. After the meet & greet I was relieved that Scooter got along with everyone he would be staying with. Marcie sent me updates which helped me with the separation. They were very accommodating and I will definitely use them again if needed.

For the cost as well as the last minute planning and communication with Marcie, I am very happy with her. I needed a sitter for my dog over the weekend and reached out to her on friday and she was able to accommodate with no hesitation. I was a little worried to leave Daisy with a stranger, Marcie made her fit right in with her family. I recieved pictures if Daisy while I was away and she looked like she was able to just make herself right at home with Marcie. Very ha

Marcie is definitely a dog lover and has fostered many dogs over several years along with having many of her own so she knows how to take care of dogs along with showing them all lots of love and affection. She has also helped adopt out many dog needing good homes. I believe she'd make an excellent dog sitter and I would trust her with our two dogs anytime.

Information Marcie & James M. would like to know about your pet

Having done rescue work for so many years, I have learned that a dog’s behavior may completely change from one home to another. I love hearing any issues we need to watch for. I need to know if they are spayed or neutered so we don’t end up with any whoopsies if we are watching any other dogs at that time! Also I would require proof of vaccinations for everyone’s safety. I want to keep your dogs & mine in a healthy environment. I am open to almost any breed except bulldogs. They tend to attack Misty simply because she is taller than her and we have to keep her safe. It is simply a Bulldog trait, not that they are bad dogs.

A typical day

We have way more toys than any household should! We also have a ton of dog beds, comfy sofas & laps to lay on. They can play with us inside or out, or lay next to the fireplace.
