Odin's Dog Ranch
Pet care experience
When you were little, did your parents ever leave you with their parents so they could get a break from being parents, and your grandparents lavished attention on you? When it comes to dogs I'm "the grandparents." Check out my photos to see a gazillion examples of dogs being spoiled rotten in all the right ways; lounging on couches, napping on beds, playing tug of war, making friends with neighbor dogs, going on car adventures, chasing tennis balls, and all the cuddles and affection they’ll put up with. The only requirement I have is that a dog have the ability to calm down and take it easy. All breeds are welcome. Puppies and high-energy working dogs are great, but I can’t provide an environment to meet their needs and am unable to sit them. The reason for this is my Odin is getting older, and his idea of a good time is a long slow walk followed by a longer nap, and he just can’t emotionally handle high-energy dogs like puppies or working breeds. I am comfortable administering pills, eye drops, and insulin injections, as well as other age-related tasks such as applying doggy diapers, and following detailed food/medicine instructions to the letter. I try to put myself inside the mind of each dog, to understand the needs, wants, and emotions which make up their inner life. In all things I make sure not to show favoritism to my Odin, your dog is a full and equal member of our pack while staying with us.
Reviews
Marc was so accommodating to my work schedule when we were figuring out a time for a meet and greet. He let my dog run around the yard sniffing to get used to the new environment and let him meet his pup and the others he was watching that day. After this meet and greet we booked day care with Marc. Tucker came home very tired 😊 We will definitely be rebooking with Marc and we’re happy we found someone local!
I started taking Braveheart to Marc in 2021 and we have continued since. Marc treats dogs so gently, provides lots of cuddles and relaxing time outside in his giant yard, and is so consistent with sending photos through your dog’s stay. He provides a wonderful environment for older dogs who need comfort while missing their families.
Bernie had another great stay with Marc!
I feel confident leaving my pup in Marc’s care when I go out of town. His love for dogs is evident and I’m so grateful for his thoughtful updates while I’m away. Thank you so much, Marc!

Inside my home, I work hard to foster an environment of friendly inclusiveness where everyone is a full and equal member of "Odin's pack." While outdoors, on walks or in the park, I mentally switch gears to something like "alert mama bear watching her cubs play."

Information Marc N. would like to know about your pet
Finding my front door the first time is usually tricky, so when we schedule a meet and greet I’ll include a map on how to get to me. For stays, please bring anything you think your dog would either need or want. Food, meds, a bed, a food bowl, a favorite toy, etc. I have spare bowls and leashes if needed.
A typical day
You know that delicious calm feeling after waking up from an afternoon nap? That’s the vibe I try to create and maintain while everyone is indoors. Older dogs will mostly want to nap/lounge the day away, and they’ve earned the right to sleep as much as they want. Younger dogs with more energy will get more/longer walks to keep their energy levels tired and happy, so they don’t feel the need to harass the older dogs as they lounge the day away.

It sounds a little silly, but our daily routine revolves around potty breaks and meals (in that order!). First thing after waking up we go outside for a quick potty break, come back inside for breakfast, then head out again for a longer potty walk to burn some energy. After going inside everyone usually naps for a few hours. Our afternoon outside activities depends on the weather; if it's 95 degrees in late July we'll take a quick 10-minute walk, if it's a beautiful spring day we'll stay out much longer. After dinner we'll go for a long walk to make sure nobody has any unburnt energy left over from the day. Then right before I go to bed everyone goes out for one last potty break.
