Pet care experience
I started at University studying Zoology and volunteered with Asiatic moon bears in China. I then worked for 8 years with the Scottish SPCA both in their kennels and 4 years in their veterinary clinic as assistant. 8 years ago I moved to Spain to take up a position at a boarding facility. I have been there ever since. Caring for people's pets when they go on holiday, helping people with behavioural issues with their dogs and instructing basic obedience classes. I pride myself in knowing every dog that I look after and their normal behaviours. This allows me to know when something is not right with them and with my veterinary assistant experience I am calm when dealing with an ill animal and know when they require veterinary treatment. I also really enjoy enrichment activities and have introduced many an owner and dog to how fun and useful enrichment can be for both dog and owner. I have lived in the campo for 8 years now so I'm also experienced in dealing with most issues that can arise from day to day life in Spain.

I met Mandy initially in her role as a dog trainer. Since then she has looked after my three Chows on several occasions with no issues whatsoever. Even though they are a difficult breed in general she has never been phased and I have always arrived home to find them happy and healthy, plus the house stayed clean too !!

Mandy has been looking after our pooches for years whenever we have gone on holiday and whenever I have to do double shifts at work she will also come over to my house and make sure everyone is fed, happy, exercised and I know she stays with them for a while for cuddles also! Mandy is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to dogs, she has recently helped me with training a new furry addition to the household and she has taught me a lot about dog behaviour and even my own. On top of everything else while I was recovering from surgery my larger dog also needed to have an operation of his own and she took care of everything, vets visits, wound cleaning etc, when I was unable. It's very obvious Mandy has a great love of all animals and she is extremely trustworthy and punctual. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone. :o)

I try to accommodate you and your dogs normal routine as much as possible. If you feed them at 7am, I feed them at 7am for example. I follow all guidelines given to me by owners, to a point. If there is anything that your dog is not happy with me doing with them, I will take it at their pace and give them the choice of trusting me in any given situation. Time, patience, love and of course some hotdog, usually wins over most dogs. I am well rehearsed in reading body language and only ever use force free methods when working with a dog and have experience with all sorts of behavioural issues, including aggression. Overall, I will work with your dog to make the experience as fun and as stress free as possible 😊

A general idea of their behaviours, likes and dislikes. If they have any issues with other dogs on walks etc. I can also offer help with any behavioural issues you may have with your dog. What a normal day is for you and your dog so that I can follow this as much as possible.

I love using enrichment on walks to make them more fun and interesting. From simply allowing them to have a good sniff around, to playing hunt the treats or toys. I know

Mandy can watch in your home
Availability
If I am looking after your dog in your home, I will be available to your pet almost 24/7. I may need to run an errand or two but certainly no more than 4 hours. If your pet has problems with separation anxiety, I will make sure I can accommodate them and not have to leave them home alone at all.
