Pet care experience
I’ve always grown up with pets! My main source of experience comes from owning seven cats at once for a really long time growing up and even though it wasn’t dogs, it still really gave me a lot of experience with caring for animals in general. We then adopted a dog and I’ve learned so, so much more. An experience I have of genuine dog sitting is when I dog sat for my neighbor who was out for the weekend! I dropped by his house frequently to play with his baby pup and tended to his senior pup. It was so fun and I loved to be able to do something nice for him. I know how important it is to show love to animals and tend to each with their own specific needs so that’s what I will always do my best on! I’ve grown a real love, passion, and appreciation for pets and I will always do my best to show that in the way that I care for them.

Malyssa is my neighbor and she dog sat for me once a while back when my family and I were out for a weekend trip. I’ve known Malyssa and her family for a while so I had no issues trusting her to come in and out of my home freely. I have two dogs that I needed her to regularly feed and let outside. One is an older Pitbull mix, Marbles, and the other one is one we had just gotten, a Rottweiler pup named Penny. I only told Malyssa it would be necessary to let them out for the bathroom and to feed them, to try and make it as convenient for her as possible when it came to time but to my delight she asked if she could do more like play with them and go for walks! I said of course but also that it would be only if she had time. I came back and my dogs were extremely happy. I recommended to her even that she should pursue something like this so I am happy she is.

I can’t tend to pets in my own home unfortunately due to renting rules however I would really love to. I can say this is another big reason I decided to sign up to be a sitter for Rover. I can’t necessarily have my own pets, but I would love the opportunity to take care of other pets AND help someone out who needs it! When it comes to tending to pets in others homes, I would definitely listen to whatever the house rules are and make sure I have a complete understanding of what is expected of me!

A typical day
A typical day or dog walk looks different with each dog! I first try to get a read on whether a dog is more playful or whether they need their space to warm up to me. I am completely patient and cannot stress enough how important it is that each dog is unique with what they like and don’t like. I love to do a range of activities from running and walking, fetch with varying toys, tug of war, and of course the occasional pup cup run!! :)

I have a super part time job and then do other jobs from home where I make my own schedule. I mainly am trying to focus on school at this time, I am studying to become a K-12 teacher! I am free every single morning and midafternoon! I am also completely available on weekends.
