Fenced yard ; 20 yrs in canine care

Pet care experience

Dogs have been a huge part of my life since childhood. Having grown up around dogs from Dachshunds to Dobermans, I pride myself as being experienced with breeds of all sizes. I love dogs from the core of my heart and will never accept a booking unless absolutely sure of being able to provide the best care possible. My current pet is Duke, a field Golden Retriever. My fiance and I are seasoned Bellevue dog sitters and have a combined 10 + years of experience in canine care. About our pet: Duke has grown up to be a loyal, affectionate and strong young dog. He is fully trained to welcome all dogs to our place. He has impeccable social sense and is fantastic at tempering his playing style to match the other dog's preference. He consistently provides new dogs enough space to feel comfortable at our place. He is also fully trained to not get into another dog's food bowl during feeding time. Overall, it has been a joy to raise him, and I am sure you and your dog will absolutely love him.

Mallory and Augustine did a fantastic job, Loki generally takes a bit to adopt when staying in a new place, but with them was right on, he was eating normally, plenty of play time, tons of pictures and overall a happy boy. Loki was very well taken care of. Thanks Mallory, Augustine and Duke!

We love Mallory and Augustine and so does our dog. It’s hard to leave your baby somewhere for long periods of time, but I know in my heart he is in excellent hands with two people that truly care!

Safety, trust & environment

Our home is power vaccumed twice a day, followed by a complete disinfectant mop. We are diligent in keeping the place dog proof. No stray items are ever left lying around, trash and recycling cabinets are fully secured and counter tops never have open food. We wipe the dogs everytime they come inside from the yard and so we are happy to allow them on our furniture after they are cleaned. In case your dog needs to be fed separately, there are three spare bedrooms where we can serve them without being distracted by other dogs. The yard is examined and serviced every month for toxic or dangerous weeds and stray fruit is always cleaned up during the fall seasons. Overall, we are confident that our home is the perfect environment where your dog can enjoy and have a fun filled vacation, while you are away. Important note: I do not expect tips. Both me and Augustine have very rewarding full time jobs. Rover just helps us stay close to our passion for animal care. Please use our tip to pay your waitstaff or delivery drivers instead. Important note : Unless you express otherwise, we will be annexing an apple AirTag to your pet’s collar/harness during their entire stay. We have never had any dogs try to breach our care and “run”, but we still prefer exercising this extra layer of caution. We do Rover because we genuinely enjoy the company of dogs and want to ensure that we give Duke a life full of friendship and frolic. This is not a full time job for either of us and so we do not operate like a typical “kennel”. We only host a limited number of dogs at a time to ensure that we give each of them dedicated attention. Our objective is to give them an environment of being with a family they can love and adore while befriending Duke and hopefully becoming best friends. Update: Starting June 2023, 10% of all monthly revenue will be donated to the Seattle Humane Society.

Information Mallory S. would like to know about your pet

If your dog has had a history of being aggressive or being violent towards other dogs, I would be unable to host them. My golden Duke loves everyone with all his heart but that’s also why he gets extremely upset if another dog were to behave aggressively towards him. I will also require updated vaccination records for all dogs prior to their arrival. I take pride in being able to create a safe environment for all the dogs that I host and your transparency is appreciated in helping me continue doing that. Thanks :)

A typical day

Totally suited to what your dog likes. We could do energetic playtime including fetch, tug of war, trick training etc. If your dog prefers a more mellow day, one of can say indoors with them or let them explore the yard at their own pace.

Augustine and I both work hybrid, meaning someone is at home with the dogs during all times. Here is how a usual day pans out : 1. One hour long exercise in the morning with the dogs. One of us is outside at all times with the dogs to supervise them. Depending on your dog’s preferred playing style, they can either join Duke in chasing balls or just stroll around the yard. This session can be preceded with breakfast if your dog eats early during the morning. 2. Play session during the afternoon . This is another 45 min interval when the dogs get to play in the yard and get their exercise. Sometimes we may move this session around depending on our work schedule. But we absolutely ensure that your dog gets a good outdoor session sometime during the afternoon. If your dog prefers to go on a leashed walk, we can do that as well. There are plenty of trails and paths that we can explore together. Evening play session: Depending on what time the sun sets, we let the dogs get their final play session in during the evening. By this time, both of us are at home and so we can ensure that we spend time with the dogs together. IMPORTANT NOTE: I will be unable to take your dog to any public dog park. We carefully scrutinize and vet each dog that comes over to our place for behavioral and health compatibility. However, at public dog parks we can not be sure of the temperament of other dogs we may come across. Hence for the sake of both your and our dog’s safety, we will limit the play time to only our private yard.
