My own dog is well taken care of and loved. He loves his treats which he gets several times a day. He also gets Christmas presents at Christmas time. The rest of the family gets gifts so why not him?? Some would say he's spoiled, I say he's well loved. I've watched my sister's 4 kids (dogs) for years whenever my sister would go out of town. I play fetch with her dogs whenever I'm over there. I have also watched my friends' dogs for them as well when they go out of town. A couple of this dogs were on oral medication and I have taken care administering medications while they were in my care. I've taken care of multiple breeds as well, dachshunds, pitbulls and chihuahuas to name a few, as well as mix breeds. I work days from 8:30-5:30 so from about 8-6 any dog that I take care of would be indoors.
