***NOTE: while we love puppies less than a year old and female pups, we can only accept them on a case-by-case basis at this time*** I love dogs, and as a pup parent I know how it feels to entrust someone with the care of your furry family member. That’s why I strive to maintain communication with owners when their dogs are with me. I always appreciate a daily photo/video and update when I leave my dog with a sitter, so I am pleased to offer the same peace of mind. I’m an adventurous and thoughtful sitter. I believe dogs are the most humbling creatures, and, because I can't own more than the one I have now, I’m delighted when I get to take care of a few more! I live with my husband, Craig. He grew up with dogs, and is a very responsible co-parent to our dog, Roxy. My husband, dog, and I love to be outside; we go hiking, camping, fishing, etc. frequently. We also like to cuddle on the couch with a good book or movie after long days. We're college grads in our early 30s. Craig grew up on a farm in the Central Valley, and I grew up on a beach in So Cal. We've lived in SF for six years now. Roxy (our dog) is 10. I've had her since she was a puppy. She's the light of my life. And yes, for the record, I am the type of person who will show anyone who will give me the time of day Roxy's picture without hesitation. :) We live in a safe and secure ground-level, one-BR flat (approx. 650 sq. ft.) in the Cole Valley neighborhood of SF. The house has a large, fenced backyard that we share with the two units above us. The whole house is dog friendly. In fact, there's an African Ridgeback that lives with the nice family right above us. :) Your pup will be able to roam our apartment freely (unless he/she prefers to sleep in a crate). While Craig and I both work 9-5 downtown, my job is flexible enough so that I can come home at lunch for a quick potty break and play time. Regardless, pups will enjoy a 30+-minute walk in the morning and a 60+-minute walk at night as well as countless treats and snuggles! Weekend stays are the best as they are full of hikes, GG Park adventures, and beach trips! And, just like M-F stays, pups will enjoy a 30+-minute walk in the morning and a 60+-minute walk at night as well as countless treats and snuggles ON TOP OF all the other amazing weekend adventures we may find ourselves in! Makenna was so great with our little 8 month old JRT. Her communication was great from the beginning to the end. We received pictures and update during the booking. We definitely recommend Makenna and we will definitely book again.
Makenna and her husband were absolutely great. My boyfriend and I had to find a sitter last minute for Dee, and she happily took him in. Makenna has a very calm and professional demeanor and Dee loved her immediately. We received consistent photos of them going on adventures and Dee looked super happy! I would not hesitate to book with Makenna again.
Highly recommended! It was my first time boarding my dog (Weasel) with Makenna, and I will definitely call on her again for future needs.
We have an 8 month Labradoodle and had some anxiety leaving him alone for the first time. Makenna was one of several sitters that we interviewed. She was fantastic; sending daily action shots and keeping us updated throughout the separation. Mile (our Labradoodle) will be staying here whenever she's available :)!!

Because I have a dog of my own, the first thing I will need to know is how your dog behaves around other pups. I have enough space to keep the dogs separate as long as necessary for both dogs’ comfort. I also like to hear all about your dog’s daily habits and routines, medical needs, behavioral quirks, training cues, favorite toys and games, plus any other pertinent facts you’d like to share. ***NOTE: while we love puppies less than a year old and female pups, we can only accept them on a case-by-case basis at this time***
A typical day
My family and I live in a nice and safe neighborhood in SF called Cole Valley. It's near Golden Gate Park and Mount Sutro (perfect for hikes!). We also have a large, fenced backyard, which we use every day to play ball with our dog, and there’s always room for more! The pups I would go on walks in the morning and at night every day. On the weekends, we will go on all sorts of adventures in and around SF, including beach and Golden Gate park trips and Marin hikes. During the week, there may not be time for all-out adventures, but I can promise daily cuddles and treats. Frequent communication is key. I always appreciate a daily photo and update when I leave my dog with a sitter, so I would, of course, offer the same peace of mind.
