I grew up with a variety of pets and experience caring for even more! Cats, frogs, fire belly newts, snails, turtles, snakes, captive great horned owl, and stick insects!

Maia took great care of our house and our two cats while we were away. She navigated the complexity of our keypad locks, litter robots, and automated feeders with ease. She left our house cleaner than we left it — taking out the trash, laundering the sheets etc. Most importantly, she kept us up to date with photos and videos of our two kittens :) Thank you so much!
Maia is one of my favorite humans. She is a lover of all animals, and has cared for many kinds of pets since I've known her (about 7 years). I know she grew up with pets, and currently has pets of her own that are very well cared for. She also cared for snakes, a turtle, and an owl for our wildlife program at a science camp when we worked together. Maia is dependable, trustworthy, responsible, funny, caring, mature, intelligent, friendly, and kind. She'll be a great pet sitter. I fact, I wish she lived closer to me so she could take care of my cats and my dog when I go out of town!
Maia has been my first choice pet caregiver since I met her in 2012. She has gently and competently cared for my cat since he was a kitten, as well as numerous small animals in terrariums and aquariums over the years. Maia is reliable and responsible for all details of pet and home care. Most importantly to me, she genuinely loves time spent with animals and connects with each individual creature on its own terms. She pays attention to where an animal likes to be rubbed, favorite toys, daily habits, and other details that help a pet feel at ease. I have complete peace of mind when Maia is caring for my pets!

Ahead of time, I like to know feeding times and regular routines for pets. What kind of personality the cat has and what toys they like or don't like to play with. I make sure to ask whether the cat is a snuggler or not, and favorite hiding places, to be sure I can locate the cat in case I need to.
A typical day
With the pets I watch, I like to be prompt with feeding times, and play and snuggle with them the way they want to play and snuggle. Being present is one of the biggest things I can offer to the pets I care for, which helps pets warm up to me when first getting to know me. I am big into crochet, so I always bring an extra ball of yarn to supplement the other cat toys, but in general, I like to follow what cat owners tell me about their pets - they know them better than anyone, so they can best set me up for successful visits.

I currently work 30 hrs per week, with Thursdays and Fridays completely off. I have lots of time to care for cats and other animals!
