The first step of any pet care is passive and it’s just a routine check of the pets well being. I think as pet owners, many of us do this without even thinking. Making sure they have access to a bathroom would be a second priority in the event that there’s nothing else pressing, followed by water and food. Lastly they just get all the love one can possible give. Obviously it’s important to make sure all their needs (bathroom, food, water, clean living space) are met before leaving them, as well.
