I've worked as a dogsitter for many of my friends and neighbors since I got my license and have been able to service many pet owners in the Richmond Hill area. I am well versed in senior dogs, as my clientele base mainly consists of older pets and providing them with their medication and aid. Playtime is also a major deal and if the owner is away for multiple days in a row I spend as much time as I can with each stop ranging from an hour to a few hours.

Maggie was a rockstar with our dogs. I would hire her again in a heartbeat. She is very communicative, and always sent pictures and updates of the dogs while we were gone. She is clean and leaves the house looking better than we left it. We came home after almost a month gone to, two very happy well looked after dogs. Cannot recommend her enough.

When staying in the pet owner's home I ensure that the dog is comfortable with me and maintains the schedule that the owner has in place as well as any mannerisms and training that is put into place. Everyday that the owner is gone, I send a photo and update to provide comfort that their pet is in good hands. I also ensure to keep the house tidy as its standard to keep good mannerisms especially in a home that isn't your own. For stays longer than 5 days I will do the typical house chores of sweeping, mopping, wiping down tables, removing the bed sheets and wash them if washer/dryer are available.

Prior to petsitting, I ask that I be provided with the medication instructions in writing or in a text so I can always refer to them as needed. I also would like to know the dog's reactivity to other dogs, animals, people; if they are prone to be more aggressive than others. Alongside general issues of being escape artists or trying to bolt out the door when you come in. Your pets safety is my number one priority and I will always avoid anything that could potentially be an issue for their safety or others. I also create a digital file in my phone for every household which contains the care instructions you provide, alongside your emergency contacts list. For this I ask that you provide your dog's vet number and 1-2 other numbers that I could call if you are unavailable in the case of an emergency.
A typical day
Depending on the dog, I'll play with them using whatever toys they have laying around or going outside and playing fetch. I also enjoy playing with them through enrichment-based activities using their treats and teaching them new tricks or hiding them so they can sniff them out.

Availability
Your pet will always come first and I always create my work schedule based on the pet's needs or owner's requests. This includes letting my employer know I can only work for a certain amount of time on certain days, though I would need to know atleast 1 month in advance to make it happen. Though since I only work part time, my shifts range from 1-7hrs depending. I typically spend 30 minutes - 4 hours during each drop-in with a total of 1-6 drop-ins per day to ensure the pet's comfort.
