Paw-fect Puppy Playground

Pet care experience

PLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING PRIOR TO FIRST BOOKING REQUEST! I have attempted to answer all your questions and give you an accurate portrayal of the care your dog will receive while in our home. :-) Hi! Welcome to the profile page for * PAW-fect Puppy Playground! * My name is Maggie and I love dogs! I am a bit obsessed and quite particular about the type of care they receive…and by particular, I mean—they are family and need to be treated like family! This is the reason Jim and I started to host dogs in our home. We struggled to find the “right fit” for our spoiled fur-baby girl. So when we started hosting, we wanted to make sure we offered a place where we would like to send our Trixie Mae. **No extra charges for taking care of your dog like we take care of ours: walks, baths (as needed/requested), oral medication, special diets/feeding regimens, and 1:1 time are all what I expect someone to do because they WANT to and they WANT to have the pups and parents at ease during the stay: **Once booked, you will get Jim and my private cell numbers—you can contact me 24/7 and unless I am working I will get back with you right away. Or it may take an hour or so. **I send photos, videos, and updates at least once per day. I will send more if requested. **If your dog will need to be crated for more than 4 hours at one time (excluding night time) during the stay you will be notified prior to booking or at the time via text (if unplanned emergency). **We have neighbors who are looking out for your dogs too! I don’t mean they are involved in the hosting…but if your dog happens to dig out of the fence or dart out the door, our lazy cul-de-sac is full of kids and helpful neighbors who know and are happy to help get any escape artists back home. ---Please let me know if you have a known escapee so we can put a tag on the collar for neighbors to contact me and not you…since you’ll be too far away to rescue! I’ll update you IF that happens, which is almost never. **Dogs are able to be on furniture…no charge for cots (I can’t believe that is a thing). However, no hosted dogs on the bed. So this means every dog does need to be able to sleep on his/her own—either in a crate, laundry room, or living room. Please let me know which is preferred. If not crated, the dog must be potty trained and non destructive (or furniture or doors or floors). **I take time to learn your dogs needs and wants…not just what Trixie and Miranda do. This is important to help the dogs feel comfortable. Some dogs need to eat in an isolated space or they get distracted. Some dogs want ALL THE FOOD and need to be watched in order to not to steal from others. Some dogs love a belly rub and some would rather have a head scratch. Some need blankets to burrow into and some may need a fan to stay cool. I do my best to really give personalized spoiling! When booking, it is extremely helpful if you note as much as you can about your pups personality, temperament, and needs. **We only host one family at a time. What that means is whether you have one dog or three, we will not accept any other rover requests for time your pups are with us. This helps in providing great personalized care and minimizes any issues between new friends (or frien-imies). If there is a request for drop off day or pick up day overlap—we will talk with both parties and have a plan to minimize interaction if approved (this RARELY happens). **If you request, we will take the pups in the car to a local park for 3-4mi walks. This will be something you will want to let me know if you think your dog is good in the car (for 15 min each way) and ok on leash and for that distance. **TREATS TREATS TREATS! Vacation is never time for a diet, in my opinion, so your dog will get tons of treats ranging from those you bring, our “healthy” ones (veggies & fruits & cheese & PB), and packaged ones. If your pup has an allergy or is on a strict diet, please let me know! Here is a little more about us: We offer in home boarding and "doggie day care". It is our goal to help your pup feel as comfortable as possible when you are away. About 3/4 of the month, one of us is home all day and able to give 24/7 attention. Due to our schedules changing each month, I am not sure which days they will be until middle of the month prior. Please let me know the amount of supervision your fur-baby will need/want and I will let you know if someone will be home during the hours requested. I truly believe it is my job to ensure you have a stress free (or less stress) time away from your little love and the only way to do that is to know EXACTLY what services are and are not being provided. We have a very energetic 7 year old rescued Rat Terrier mix. She is "slow to warm-up" and is quite scared/defensive on many first meetings. For this reason, we often request a meet-and-greet at a neutral location (our local dog-park) to help facilitate the best "hello" we can—but it’s really just time that helps her. We also have another rescue pop that is tonight to be around Trixies age. Miranda Wiggles is a chi-wiennie who isn’t super friendly with people at first but is very welcoming to new dogs. She is lazy so she’s not the playing kind but she’ll get out of the way for yours to have some fun! We love having an extra few sets of paws to both love on and to help entertain our furbaby. We will follow all instructions you give and treat as our own--which include a bit of spoiling! We go for walks on nice days, our yard is massive enough for a good run and game of fetch, we have toys, dog beds, and a medium crate for your pup to use while here. Also, Trixie and Miranda use a "doggie door" which is open all day! ******Please note, we work as a foster family for a local rescue. We will let you know if we have a foster dog at the time of your request. ********** When boarding, no matter the supervision listed, please be aware there are some “requirements” your dog needs to meet to ensure he/she has the best time with us: **All dogs must be ok (no scratching floor or doors) in a confined area or in a crate **All dogs must be house trained. We do NOT accept dogs that are not potty trained to go outside. Puppy pads have not proven reliable enough, sorry.  **Any females in heat will need to be supplied with diapers—and comfortable wearing them. Note, that females in heat will not be taken to the park even if otherwise she would do well. I do not want to set her up for an “incident.” **We do not accept dogs that have shown aggression in the past. This includes food aggression. Our Trixie is quick to get defensive if pushed and I really don’t want to put either dog in a bad situation. **We will not accept dogs who are in the middle of de-worming. The need to keep the heart-rate low and other concerns are best suited for y’all as we don’t know the pup’s “baseline.” **Teething or other type of furniture/shoe/not toy chewing is not allowed as we have a lot of wood in the home. **If your dog does happen to destroy something in the home for any reason (e.g chewing, digging/burrowing, in heat) we will let you know and provide you with the information you need to replace the item—this has never happened, but I’m attempting to cover all possibilities. We kindly request a print out of the following: (1) the contact information of of your pet’s veterinarian of choice (please also notify your vet you’re leaving town and your pup will be with a sitter) & max price you will pay before your vet or î are able to get in touch with you. * If your vet is closed during an emergency or directs us to go to an energy center, we will choose the animal ER at 290/Muschke. If you don’t have a vet yet, we recommend Stoneside in Hockley off 2920/290. (2) food & treat instructions, (3) medication instructions (as needed), and (4) special needs, quirks, or desires. Please bring your pups crate, favorite bedding, a toy, and something that smells like you, and all food/treats their tummy is used to. We recommend sending more food than you think you will need in case of delayed flights or other reasons you may need to extend the trip. We prefer not to have drop-off before 7am and pick up later than 10pm but we know somethings aren’t avoidable and we will work with you to find the best solution (if that means meeting you at the door in my PJs). Please ask any question you have!

Maggie was amazing! She was so good about communicating with us and keeping us up-to-date on our little pooch while we were away. We loved getting the pictures as well, which helped put us at ease so we could enjoy our vacation. We highly recommend Maggie and will definitely be using her again in the future!

Maggie was amazing with my senior beagle during his recent stay. He has some special care requirements, an eye condition and a recently discovered liver mass that is making him lose weight and Maggie took great care of him. I got frequent updates and felt very comfortable with him being in her care. I would certainly recommend Maggie to any pet parent looking for a caring and kind person to look after their fur babies!
