Pet care experience
I’m the one family, friends and acquaintances always call for help with their dogs. Twenty five years of caring for, training and learning from many breeds and all sizes from dominate English Bulldogs and Chihuahuas to the gentle giants of Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds I’m comfortable with them all. Every animal is unique regardless of breed but I do think it’s helpful to have an idea of the characteristics of the breed if for no other reason to help protect them from common injuries. I’m always excited to meet new furry friends and honored to gain their trust and love. I have cared for healthy, highly active dogs as well as elders at end of life needing extra gentleness and medication. In addition I have had the honor to care for many cats on various medications including insulin shots.

Maera is lovely! Your fur babies will be in great hands with Maera! She helped walk our, male 1yo English Setter, Luca regularly. Maera followed instructions and always showed respect and compassion. Maera has spent years around dogs and understands the importance of training and always makes animal feel comfortable. She always sent videos and pictures. Also she notified my partner and I if she felt there was something going on with Luca’s health. We always felt like our pup was safe with her! We are going to miss her dearly!!! Would definitely recommend Maera! She is your girl if you need help with pet sitting! She’s flexible and genuine!!
My dog Bruno loves Maera. She knows how to communicate with pups and takes him on nice long walks. I always ask her first if she is available when I am going out of town.
Maera was amazing with my dog Bruno. We did a meet and greet prior to my time away and she got along so well with my pup. She is a true “dog person” and has such a calming energy. She went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. She sent me pictures and detailed messages about how Bruno was doing. I would HIGHLY recommend Maera!! Especially if you have a big dog!

Having had many animals and needing in home pet care myself on numerous occasions I am acutely aware of the trust needed to allow folks into your home. I am vigilant on pet safety & will respect the rules of the home and privacy.

Please let me know if your family member has any physical or emotional special considerations… for instance should they be kept to a slow pace or certain distance, do they have difficulty jumping or get ear/eye infections often. Do they get along easily with other dogs or are they aggressive or inconsistent with other animals… do they get aggressive with treats or toys around other dogs?
A typical day
Walking the neighborhood helps build trust and response as well as burning up energy, while getting to the park or trail provides instinctual fulfillment and pure joy immersed in natural sounds and smells. I am happy to play with or allow to play with others as well as work on response and expectations- brain work outs are just as import as physical ones. Happy to engage in any special activities requested.

Availability
My schedule is incredibly flexible as I have only 1 day a week that is fully committed until 3pm. I pick up occasional volunteer shifts at Best Friends but those are at my discretion.
