Active Sitter | Fenced-in backyard

Pet care experience

Hello and welcome! We hope you'll be the next to join our pack! My name is Madison, and I'm a very organized individual that takes pride in providing top-notch services to my clients, both on and off of Rover. As an introvert, I find being around dogs to be very comforting. I tend to keep to myself, but always adore the companionship of furry friends! I am a recent graduate from Wayne State University's Industrial/Organizational Psychology Masters Program, and am currently home full-time while I search for a job in my field of study. If you select me to take care of your pet(s) while you're away, you've found yourself a dedicated sitter that will spend her "down time" reading and playing with your canine companion. I work hard with my husband, Travis, to provide five-star pet care services here in Canton, Michigan. Growing up, we both always had more than one dog in our homes. So, as you can imagine— dogs have always been special to the both of us (I mean, how could they not be?!)! Travis and I are the proud "dog parents" of a sweet Collie named Georgia, and a new addition, Haru, who was a doggy daycare client of ours until her previous owners needed to re-home her. We have a very large, fenced in backyard to accommodate our (and your) dog. We can't wait to meet you! We are excited to announce that Travis and I became parents to our first child this year! Our little girl was born this July, so we have one more member to officially add to our pack. As of right now, we will take preference to bookings from clients we have worked with in the past, as we already know what to expect of their pets’ behaviors and quirks. As for new clients, we will be requiring a more thorough Meet & Greet to ensure that your pet will be a good fit for our growing family. Preference will be given to pets with paw-sitive experiences around young children, but we are willing to work with newbies as well. We want to be as cautious as possible with our newborn and appreciate your understanding during this special time! Travis and I own several pets in addition to our sweet Georgia peach and Haru, so we have applicable experience with many different types of animals! In our home, we have: - A Yellow-Bellied Slider (Aquatic Turtle) - Two Iguanas - A Ball Python - A Sand Boa - A Blood Python - A Brazilian Black - A Red-Island Bird Eater Please note that all exotics are housed in their own tanks in Travis' office. This door remains closed. No Rover pets are allowed in this room unsupervised, but they do love taking naps on the dog beds in his office while he is in there working! The dogs love how warm and cozy this room is; the turtle has fun swimming back and forth in his tank to play with them, and the ball python comes out of his hiding spots to say hello to his new friends through his tank glass. Travis and I are here to provide consistent care for your pet. We have a fenced in backyard that your pet(s) can enjoy running around in with our energetic girls. As the demand for our services has increased, we've opened up to hosting multiple clients at a time. Every pup we provide services for loves to play with their Rover friends! The number of dogs that will be present varies by stay. We have a wide client base that rotates through our services, booking almost two months in advance to confirm availability. We would love for you to join the pack, so reach out to us today! As you'll notice on our profile and in my reviews, Wyoming was really the center of things. Our sweet old boy passed away at the end of January, 2021. He was a beautiful three-legged Great Dane/Lab mix that had a HUGE bark, but was the sweetest boy you’d ever meet. He was always so excited to meet new humans and pup friends, he could barely stand upright! He had a beautiful decade with us after we found him on the side of the road in pieces, and we are very grateful for our time together. He would have loved to meet you and your furry companion, I just know it! Everything we do around here is built on the foundation of love that Wyoming laid for us. His love for Lambchop toys and the little squeakers inside of them is littered within our toy bins still, all these years later. It makes our hearts happy to see so many other dogs love the same things that he did! Our Georgia peach came to us (all the way from Georgia!) about three days after Wyoming passed, and is the perfect pup to continue his legacy. She has settled in well, and will begin training to become a Therapy Dog when things begin to reopen for those services again. Haru was a former client of ours, and when her previous pawrents reached out to us saying that they were re-homing her, we knew what we had to do! When we tell you that we love our clients as if they are our own... we mean it- Haru is here to tell that story!

Madison provided exceptional care for our pup, Monica, while we were away. It's clear that Monica had a lot of fun during her stay. We received daily pictures and a report card, which not only put our minds at ease but also assured us that Monica felt right at home and was well taken care of. Madison's dedication and attention to detail make her an excellent choice, and we highly recommend her for anyone looking for top-notch care for their pup! Thank you, Madison and family, for taking such great care of Monica! 🐾🌟🐶

FOR ALL SERVICES: 1). We require a Meet & Greet before every first booking. This is not only to ensure that your pet(s) and ours are a good match, but that you and I are a good match as well! All Meet & Greets will be done in our backyard with Georgia and myself. Establishing expectations up-front helps me to know if I will be able to meet your needs as a client, so please bring along any questions you may have for me to our scheduled M&G. During this time, I will go through a questionnaire that I developed to learn more specific details about your pet(s) and their routines, and will provide you with a Checklist personalized to your service. **Please see our COVID-19 update below regarding safety during our M&Gs. 2). We will need to see proof of up-to-date vaccinations AND flea/tick preventative records. These can be brought with you to the Meet & Greet, sent as a picture via Rover, or brought with you to the first day of service. You can provide me with a copy to keep safely stored in my records here, or physically show me the records and allow me to fill out my vaccination record form for your pet, just so that I can keep track of dates for all of my clients. 3). Drop-off and Pick-up times are flexible, but we no longer accept a Drop-off/Pick-up time window longer than a half hour duration. Your Drop-off/Pick-up time is a set time (but we can communicate to move it around should something come up). I require a set time so that I can safely contain any dogs in my home before your arrival. We appreciate your understanding with this new policy. 4). Our response time for new service inquiries is 1-2 business days. It typically does not take us this long, but this allows us to finalize any overlapping bookings and consider the specific capability of client overlap during your requested dates. 5). Our response hours for inquiries are from 9:00am-9:00pm. After we have booked, these hours expand to 8:00am-10:30pm. This allows more time for booked clients to make any last-minute adjustments or ask last-minute questions, and gives us more time to discuss your pet while they are in our care. Additionally, while your pet is with us, you can expect a prompt reply to any questions regarding them (< 1 hour for boarding, < 30 minutes for Day Care and Drop-Ins). Of course, emergencies are exceptions to this rule. FOR DOG BOARDING SERVICES: Boarding dogs is where our heart is! We know the stress of finding a Dog Boarding Facility to suit your needs all too well... they often have a strict schedule, keep the dogs in a big kennel or pen all day, are a breeding ground for common dog diseases, and are just too dang expensive for what they have to offer. Here, we look to alleviate all of that stress that comes along with boarding your pet. When you choose to board your dog in our home, your dog will be treated as if they were one of our own– not just another name tag on a kennel! We provide regular exercise, lots of love, plenty of treats, and all the toys your pup could imagine! We also follow your care instructions to the letter, ensuring that your pet's needs are all met. 1). Boarding client dogs must be crate trained, as all boarders get crated separately at night in order to keep them safe while we sleep. If you have a large breed dog, a senior dog, or a dog that is otherwise uncomfortable with being in a crate; we can accommodate them by keeping them gated off in our newly renovated dog room. This room is monitored by two cameras 24/7, and has multiple anti-anxiety accommodations (including a TV mounted on the wall for your pup to watch their favorite shows). 2). As an extra safety precaution, we've introduced the use of Apple AirTags with our clients. This will be placed on your pet's collar when they arrive, and will be taken off before they go home. We have never had a dog escape from our care before, but being able to track them if they do manage to escape will be a very helpful tool in getting them back. 3). Boarding clients will receive one update per day of their stay. This update comes towards the end of our day with plenty of pictures that we've taken, and a summary of the fun we had while taking them! I love taking pictures of dogs, and will do my best to provide you with quality images of your pup that capture their experience with us well. Again, this update will come at the end of the day (generally sometime around 9:00pm). FOR DOGGY DAY CARE SERVICES: We also provide recurring and one-time Doggy Day Care services. Our Day Care hours are generally 8:00am-6:00pm to accommodate the standard 9-5, but we are flexible should you need a different time frame for your schedule. 1). During the week, we are available for recurring Day Care on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as I like to reserve some days of my week for scheduling appointments or running household errands. We do offer weekend Day Care as well, but this will need to be scheduled in advance to give us time to adjust our schedule if necessary. 3). Day Care clients will receive one update per day of their service. This update will come in the Rover Card format, where you will get details about their service. These details include information about potty-breaks, water-breaks, and walks we've taken (should we feel the need to get out of the house). I can include up to eight pictures on a Rover Card. FOR DROP-IN VISIT SERVICES: We do also provide drop-in services for your pet care needs. This type of service is especially helpful when you have a long day at work and your dog needs to be taken out for a potty-break midday; or if you have cats or caged animals that wouldn't do well with a boarding experience. We provide care for all types of pets, so reach out if you'd like to set something up! 1). In my experience, reptiles/rodents/cats/etc. often do fine with Drop-Ins while their owner is out of town, but dogs do not. If you are traveling out of town, I will not provide Drop-Ins as a care substitute for your dogs. These companion animals would do best with a sitter that provides House Sitting services. 2). Drop-In clients will receive one update per service. This update will come in the Rover Card format, where you will get details about the service. These details include information about potty-breaks, water-breaks, and walks we've taken (should we feel the need to get out of the house). I can include up to eight pictures on a Rover Card. ************** COVID-19 UPDATE: ************** We thank all of our essential workers keeping us safe on the front lines during the peak of this pandemic! Now that travel restrictions are lifting and businesses are starting to reopen, we are still here to provide you with five-star pet care services. However, we would like to continue keeping everyone as safe as possible! We will follow the CDC Guidelines while making decisions on how to run our business here, and thank you for your understanding while we do so: 1). Meet & Greets will be held with potential clients in our backyard where we can stay a safe physical distance apart and discuss your services. 2). Additionally, Drop-off & Pick-up interactions will take place on our front porch, rather than inside of our home. 3). In lieu of a house tour, we can send you pictures of the common areas of our home. If you would prefer a live tour, we can utilize Rover's new video-chat feature so that you know what your pet's vacation environment will be like. 4). As of right now, fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a mask during our M&G and Drop-off/Pick-up interactions. However, those that are not yet fully vaccinated are still to interact with masks on (as a reminder, "fully vaccinated" means that it has been at least two weeks since your last dose of the vaccine booster). Both Travis and I are fully vaccinated and have received our booster shots, but we still like to be as cautious as possible to keep our loved ones safe. As mentioned, we will continue with the physical distancing and outdoor environment guidelines as an extra precaution, but we appreciate your honesty and understanding regarding mask mandates. I know that nothing is normal right now, so I appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. We thank you for helping keep our family and yours safe!

Information Madison L. would like to know about your pet

I have no breed preferences, but would like to know if your dog has any special quirks. For example, Wyoming had a fear of thunderstorms and couldn't be left alone during them unless he got a melatonin chew to calm him down about an hour beforehand. Another one of my clients is a notorious counter-surfer, so we just have to be sure to push everything back on the counter to keep the environment as safe as possible. Does your dog get into the garbage? Chew on shoes? Have a mysterious habit of collecting hair ties? The more information you can give me about your fur baby, the better!

A typical day

While your pet is enjoying their vacation with us, we will spend time playing with all of the toys and their Rover friends in the house, running around the backyard, playing in the puppy pool, playing tug-of-war, and playing fetch (if your pup is still young with lots of energy! If you've got a senior dog or a dog with joint problems, we can spend our time snuggling and napping instead!). Not to mention the treats, tasty Kong™ toys filled with fun, and cute photoshoots to give you excellent pictures of your pet!

Availability

Currently, I am providing pet care through Rover full-time. I recently graduated, so I have a free schedule for a few months while I search for a way to utilize my I/O MA degree. This means I will be home 24/7 to care for your pet, with the exception of appointments or errands (this applies to Boarding clients only, as I do not accept Day Care or Drop-In clients if my schedule does not allow for constant-care during the service). Travis works in the trade industry, so he is often at work from 9:00am-5:00pm. When we have boarders, I usually wait until he is home before running any errands (if necessary). The only time we may both be away is if we step out to get some dinner, visit our parents, or visit my grandparents; but this is never longer than a few hours. Until I know for sure how your dog walks on a leash, all walks will wait until Travis gets home from work so that we can have more hands on deck if needed. I do not walk more than one dog at once unless I am confident in their training. If you have any questions about our schedule, feel free to send us a message. We are usually able to adjust things if given ample time, so please just let us know! You can see highlights of our services and stay up to date with any policy changes by finding us on social media! We had a lot of life changes in the last year or so, but new updates to our social media accounts will be coming soon! Check us out on Instagram and Facebook by searching for: @wyoming.and.friends
