Hello! My name is Madilyn Gomez and I am a graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word with a degree in Biology and also a graduate of The University of Chester with a masters degree in Wildlife Conservation. I have a deep passion for all animals which is why I have studied animal biology and wildlife conservation. I was studying to be a veterinarian but after I realized there are numerous species going extinct every year I wanted to do something to help. I have also pet sitted before, I did it for about 2 years or so in mesquite throughout my highschool years and as you can see for about 1.5 years in San Antonio through Rover. Some of my previous pet duties included, but weren't limited to, walking dogs, feeding dogs, feeding cats, changing cat litter, and I also cared for other exotic pets such as reptiles and birds. I also worked at Petsmart so I have some basic knowledge about the needs of dogs and small animals and how to properly care for them. I also spent 4 months shadowing a Veterinarian and another month in the Veterinarian surgical field. I also worked as an ultra sound veterinary technician and did a 2 week veterinary course in Grenada! As you can see, I have a EXTREME PASSION FOR ALL ANIMALS. I have a dog myself that I walk 3 times a week so I know how to properly walk a dog as well as basic mannerisms any dog walker should have. My own dog is also very well trained and I have trained my roommates dogs as well so I am interested in training and enjoy doing it. My friends always call on me when they are having issues, both physically and behaviorally, with their dogs because they know I can handle almost any situation. Ever since I was little I always felt a deep connection with the dogs my family had. There's something about dogs that is just so magical, they bring instant happiness to your day no matter what's going on in your life. My family has owned many dogs, but my first personally owned dog is my Australian Shepherd, Evulett. I got her when she was 10 weeks old and have brought her to college with me and even to England as I completed my masters! I trained her very well. She knows numerous tricks as well as basic manners. I know just how to treat a dog and what's best for their basic needs. My experience administering medication Absolutely, one dog I was pet sitting was diabetic and I had to give him his penicillin injections. Also have administered other medications to dogs and cats at Veterinarian offices. Experience with other animals I have owned almost every small pet imagined from cockatiels, parrots, hamsters, mice, rats, gerbils, hermit crabs, snakes, frogs, fish, turtles, anole lizards, and crayfish. Any animal I have not previously owned will not scare me away as I am always willing to learn and up for a challenge. I also have some experience with farm animals as I volunteered at a few farms in Texas and Grenada.
