Remote Writer & Animal Lover

Pet care experience

Hey y'all! My name is Madelyne, but feel free to call me Maddie for short! I've grown up with dogs and cats all of my life and I've always been known as the animal whisperer among friends and family. I know this is due to the patience I have when meeting a new cat or dog. I do this by letting them approach me, so I can make them feel welcome and at ease around me. There is not a single cat or dog breed out there I don't love so all furbabies are welcome and will be well-taken care of! Some notable skills about me include my attention to detail, thorough following of instructions, clear and open communication with clients, and charisma with people and their pets! In response to Covid-19 please note I am an avid mask wearer inside and outside of environments that aren't my own home, maintain social distancing guidelines when needed, and wash my hands often. I'm currently mom to a 15 lb cat named Boomer! When it comes to dog walks, I'm happy to do something as simple as a potty walk to a multi-mile walk that provides your dog with some daily exercise. My overnight stay and dog sitting experiences date back to my early teen years growing up in Alton, Illinois and living in Columbia, Missouri during my college years. Ive administered injections and pills for dogs and cats who need to take medications. As a sitter, I'm happy to play with your dog or car using their toys, feed them, make sure they are let out every few hours (as spaced out as one to two hours, and up to four hours in between potty breaks) or just simply sit and pet them to ease their stress or anxiety! Outside of dog-walking and pet-sitting, I am a remote worker & writer who is passionate about science, healthcare and sustainability. Should you have any further questions about me or my skills, please do not hesitate to ask!

Madelyne did a fantastic job watching my boys! She gave them their pills on schedule, took them for regular walks, and gave them loads of attention. I really appreciated receding picture and video updates throughout my trip so I knew how they were doing. I would 100% use her services again!!

Madelyne is great with our dog! We’ve used her multiple times and is very responsive to messages, and sends plenty of updates. We know our pup is in good hands when Madelyne is watching her.

Health Guidelines Provided Below This Section — For dogs, Ill make sure all of your pets needs are met inside and outside of the home. In addition to a walk, their food, water and favorite toys (according to each owners instruction) will be available for them to play with at home. During previous pet-sitting opportunities for dogs and cats, I always spend time sitting and/or playing with them to ensure they feel loved and comfortable while you’re away! I need to give my own fur-baby a daily pill for his heart condition. I am medication savvy and comfortable administering a pill for pets with special needs. Covid-19 & Other Illness Precautions: I am still an avid masker as of December 2023 due to my health. I kindly ask that we both wear masks during meet and greets, and I am happy to provide them! If you or someone in your household is actively sick, we will need to postpone any meet and greets for at least 5 days. I want all of us to stay, safe healthy and well! (including your pets)!

Information Madelyne M. would like to know about your pet

Before pet sitting, I would love to know the dog's temperament as well as how they are being introduced to new people. Other details I would like to know, include how long the dog likes to walk either in minutes or miles, if they are treat motivated or are able to receive treats (being mindful of sensitive tummies and diets), and how your pooch interacts with other dogs or people on and off-leash (I won't ever take them off-leash on a walk, but I ask this as some dogs have a personality change when leashed. i.e. become protective of their walker).

A typical day

I am happy to walk your pooch around your west side neighborhood! I love walking around Humboldt Park, Ukrainian Village and Wicker Park! Upon return from our walk, I'm happy to provide some extra playtime with your pooch if you've got toys for them.
