Hello! Hola! Ola! Bonjour! 你好! سلام! Merhaba! مرحبا! My name is Madeline Rehm, and I am a 28-year-old woman with a love for all vulnerable populations, both human and non-human alike! I am an educator in a local public school, teaching English as a New Language (ENL) to immigrants, refugees, and heritage-speakers of languages other than English. Beyond my work in education, I have been pet sitting extensively for the last 10+ years. I have significant experience caring for both cats and dogs, as well as for multiple pets simultaneously. I am also accustomed to pet sitting for both short periods of time and lengthier durations. I considered one dog, Smeagol, to be my “Winter Time” dog. I watched him throughout the winter, every weekend and occasionally during the week, for the last 5 years. Smeagol was a high-anxiety Weimaraner with many idiosyncrasies. He was on several medications and was very particular about his sleeping arrangements (under a blanket with only his nose uncovered). He was also a senior dog, meaning I became well-versed in all that goes along with caring for an elderly canine. Unfortunately, Smeagol passed away this year, as did our 11-year-old German Shepherd, Jagger, which has left me with a hole in my heart and a sense of aimlessness without my typical pup-rearing commitments.
