I’ll run with your dog.

Pet care experience

I have been an intern at Cosley Zoo for five years. I am a zookeeper and always qualified to care for mupitle animals. I have my own car. I am a recent high school graduate. I leave for college in the fall and will be a early childhood education major. I have also run in the past so I will happily run with dogs. I have a special needs dog so I know how to care for them. I have also dog sat for friends before with special needs dogs. I have no breed preferences. I also know how to care for puppies and teething puppies don’t scare me. I can give dogs oral medication if need be I just like to know frist. Also let me know if you dog has a treat limit.

I am writing this to give my support for Maddie Frey’s application to become a Rover dog sitter. I have known Maddie since the summer of 2013 and have been her direct supervisor during her participation in the Summer Teen Volunteer and Junior Zookeepers programs at Cosley Zoo. Over the years that I have known Maddie, I have witnessed her love and passion for all animals. At the zoo Maddie is one of our certified animal handlers and public presenters. In order to obtain these certifications, Maddie attended multiple training sessions and passed written and demonstration tests for each of the species she handles (three-toed box turtles, chickens, rabbits, and African pygmy hedgehogs). These tests are very difficult and those looking to obtain certification must learn all about the animals' natural history as well as proper ways to handle, signs of stress that may be observed in each species, and basic daily care needs. To maintain her certification Maddie comes in at least once a month and handles each species for ten minutes and does at least two animal encounters for our visitors. With Maddie's animal knowledge and responsibilities at the zoo I believe that she could be an excellent Rover dog sitter. Thank you for allowing me to provide input to your selection process.

Maddie is my daughter so obviously I’m biased but I have seen her love and care for many animals over the years. Since fifth grade she has been an active volunteer at our local zoo and is certified in handling several different types of animals. What makes animals (and kids) love Maddie is her true gentle and calming nature. From chickens to turtles to our anxiety ridden rescue dog, she takes the time to care for them all.
